🗓 On July 27-28, St. Petersburg hosted the Second Summit and Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum.
The Forum and Summit were attended by official delegations from 48 countries (27 nations were represented by the head of state or the second highest official) and the five largest integration associations of the continent.
📃 The Summit resulted in the adoption of five key documents:
• Declaration of the Second #RussiaAfrica Summit;
• Declaration of the Second Russia-Africa Summit on the Prevention of an Arms Race in Outer Space;
• Declaration of the Second Russia-Africa Summit on Cooperation to Ensure International Information Security;
• Declaration of the Second Russia-Africa Summit on Strengthening Cooperation to Combat Terrorism;
• Action Plan of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum for 2023–2026.
A total of 59 panel sessions were held with 457 speakers in four main areas: ‘The New Global Economy’, ‘Cooperation in Science and Technology’, ‘The Humanitarian and Social Sphere: Working Together for a New Quality of Life’, and ‘Integrated Security and Sovereign Development’.
💬 President Vladimir Putin's concluding remarks at the second plenary session of the Russia-Africa Summit (July 28, 2023): "We had a meaningful and interested exchange of views on the entire range of strategic cooperation between Russia and African nations. <...> We determined the main areas of our further joint work and mapped out our plans for enhancing foreign policy coordination, building up trade and investment flows and promoting industrial cooperation between Russia and African countries. <...> We highly value the results of our joint work at the summit. I am sure the achieved results are creating a good foundation for further deepening the Russia-Africa partnership in the interests of our nations’ prosperity and wellbeing."

🇷🇺🇨🇳📞 On August 7, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke over the phone with member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi.
🤝 Sergey Lavrov congratulated his Chinese colleague on his recent appointment to the position of PRC Foreign Minister and wished him new successes in his position. The parties praised the progressive development of Russian-Chinese relations that show stability and positive dynamics amid general geopolitical instability in the world. They focused on the bilateral agenda including implementation of agreements reached at the highest political level.
The Ministers discussed a number of current international issues, noting the general unacceptability of the Western bloc’s confrontational policy towards Russia and China and its attempts to contain their development through sanctions and other illegitimate methods. They positively assessed the constructive dialogue between Moscow and Beijing and the high level of collaboration at the UN, BRICS, SCO, G20, and other international organisations.
They discussed a number of current regional issues, including the Ukraine crisis.
The meeting between the Ministers once again confirmed that Moscow and Beijing have identical or largely concurring approaches towards international affairs. They reaffirmed their commitment to maintain close foreign policy coordination.

❓: Уважаемый Анатолий Иванович, как бы Вы могли прокомментировать заявление госдепартамента в связи с годовщиной событий августа 2008 г. на Южном Кавказе?
💬 А.И.Антонов: Это яркий пример того, как США преднамеренно переворачивают ситуацию «с ног на голову». Цель ясна: извратить правду о той трагедии и взвалить вину на Россию. Однако факты подтверждают, что вся ответственность за те события лежит на бывшем президенте Грузии Саакашвили. Именно по его преступному приказу против югоосетинского народа была развязана полномасштабная война.
👉 Вашингтону уже давно пора признать, что данное бесчеловечное решение стало также следствием ошибочной политики самих Соединенных Штатов. Ведь это Запад привел к власти, а затем рьяно поддерживал одиозный режим Саакашвили. И до сих пор продолжает лоббировать интересы указанного деятеля, как недавно подтвердил американский минюст.
❌ Если администрация действительно привержена обеспечению мира в регионе, то должна отказаться от обвинений и санкционных угроз в адрес России. Не пытаться сорвать налаживающиеся связи между нашей страной и Грузией. Важно сосредоточиться на практической работе в рамках Международных женевских дискуссий по безопасности и стабильности в Закавказье. Прежде всего, вести дело к заключению Тбилиси с Сухумом и Цхинвалом юридически обязывающего соглашения о неприменении силы. А не нагнетать обстановку, чем занимаются сейчас США.

❓: Dear Ambassador Antonov, how could you comment on the statement by the US State Department marking the anniversary of the August 2008 events in the South Caucasus?
💬 Anatoly Antonov: This is a striking example of how the United States is deliberately turning the situation upside down. The goal is clear, i.e. to distort the truth about that tragedy and put the blame on Russia. However, the facts confirm that the entire responsibility for those developments lies with Saakashvili, the former President of Georgia. It was on his criminal order that a full-scale war was unleashed against the people of South Ossetia.
👉 It is high time Washington admitted that this inhumane decision was also the result of a misguided policy conducted by the United States. After all, it was the West who brought to power, and then zealously supported the odious regime of Saakashvili. And still is continuing to lobby for the interests of this figure, as recently confirmed by the US Ministry of Justice.
❌ If the Biden Administration is truly committed to ensuring peace in the region, then it must drop the accusations and threats of sanctions against Russia. As well as not try to disrupt the establishing ties between our country and Georgia. It is important to focus on practical activities within the framework of the International Geneva Discussions on Security and Stability in the South Caucasus. First of all, work towards concluding a legally binding agreement of Tbilisi with Sukhum and Tskhinval on the non-use of force. It is not time to whip up tension, which is what the United States is doing now.

❌ Отсюда вполне ожидаемый результат встречи – отсутствие единой позиции, как двигаться вперед по урегулированию кризиса на Украине. Никакой поддержки пресловутой киевской «мирной формулы» не было и в помине.

💬 Anatoly Antonov: We have witnessed yet another unsuccessful attempt of wishful thinking by the US Administration. There was no diplomatic success in Jeddah.
📌 Washington tried to show a beautiful picture of US support from the "Global South" states in the effort to isolate Russia. To win over the countries that do not support the "rules-based order".
❌ Hence the rather expected result of the meeting - the lack of a common position on how to move forward in resolving the crisis in Ukraine. There was no support for the notorious Kiev’s “peace formula” at all.
⁉️ We would like to understand how it is possible to discuss issues related to Russia's security without taking into account our national interests. Is it still not clear to anyone that in such a situation it is impossible to achieve specific results?
👉 The Washington "peacekeepers'" actions do not stand up to scrutiny. Nothing but "double" standards: first, they exclude our country from the negotiation process, and then publicly accuse us of unwillingness to participate in settling the conflict in Eastern Europe, unleashed by the United States and its satellites.
📌 We hear hypocritical talk about peace, and in the meantime, the United States is shipping a batch of Abrams tanks to its puppets. The absurdity of such an approach is overwhelming. 🗓 Ежегодно 8 августа десять стран-членов Ассоциации государств Юго-Восточной Азии (АСЕАН) отмечают День АСЕАН. Дата празднования была утверждена на ежегодном заседании Постоянного комитета Ассоциации в мае 2005 года.
🌏 АСЕАН была основана 8 августа 1967 года в Бангкоке Индонезией, Малайзией, Сингапуром, Таиландом и Филиппинами, подписавшими т.н. «Бангкокскую декларацию». Позднее к региональной организации присоединились Бруней (1984), Вьетнам (1995), Лаос и Мьянма (1997), Камбоджа (1999).
АСЕАН – одна из наиболее успешных региональных организаций, вокруг которой сформировалась сеть различных межгосударственных объединений с участием России и других ведущих мировых держав – Восточноазиатский саммит (ВАС), Региональный форум АСЕАН по безопасности (АРФ), Совещание министров обороны АСЕАН с диалоговыми партнерами («СМОА плюс»).
☝️ Развитие связей с Ассоциацией входит в число приоритетов российской внешней политики на азиатском направлении. С 2017 года в Джакарте действует Постпредство России при АСЕАН, а в 2018 году российско-асеановские отношения вышли на уровень стратегического партнерства. Результатом стало уплотнение координации с «десяткой» на ведущих многосторонних площадках, включая ООН, по актуальным глобальным и региональным проблемам.
🤝 12-14 июля в Джакарте С.В.Лавров принял участие во встречах глав внешнеполитических ведомств в форматах Россия-АСЕАН, Восточноазиатского саммита и Регионального форума АСЕАН по безопасности.

🕯 8 августа исполняется 15 лет с начала военной агрессии режима М.Саакашвили против народа Южной Осетии и российских миротворцев из состава Смешанных сил по поддержанию мира в зоне грузино-югоосетинского конфликта.
В ночь с 7 на 8 августа 2008 года по приказу тогдашнего президента Грузии вооруженные силы этой страны приступили к так называемой «операции по наведению конституционного порядка на территории Южной Осетии», приведшей к многочисленным жертвам, в том числе среди российских граждан.
❗️ Действия грузинской стороны явились грубым нарушением международных договоренностей о мирном урегулировании грузино-югоосетинского конфликта, их преднамеренный характер был запротоколирован в докладе созданной под эгидой Евросоюза Международной комиссии по расследованию причин конфликта на Кавказе.
Дальнейшей эскалации конфликта удалось избежать благодаря непосредственному участию России. На преступную военную авантюру, предпринятую режимом М.Саакашвили, был дан адекватный ответ – в сложившихся экстремальных обстоятельствах Россия сначала успешно провела операцию по принуждению агрессора к миру, а затем признала Южную Осетию, а также Абхазию, которой была уготована та же участь, что и соседней республике, суверенными независимыми государствами, взяв их под свою защиту.

🕯 August 8 marks the 15th anniversary of the Saakashvili regime's military aggression against the people of South Ossetia and Russian peacekeepers from the Joint Peacekeeping Forces in the zone of the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict.
In the early hours of August 8, 2008, on the orders of the then President of Georgia, the Georgian armed forces launched the so-called "operation to impose constitutional order on the territory of South Ossetia," which resulted in numerous casualties, including among Russian citizens.
❗️ Georgia’s actions were a flagrant violation of international agreements on the peaceful settlement of the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict. The fact that those actions were deliberate was documented in the report of the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on the Conflict in the Caucasus established under the auspices of the European Union.
Russia’s involvement prevented the conflict from escalating further. The criminal military escapade undertaken by the Saakashvili regime met with an adequate response: in those extreme circumstances, Russia first conducted a successful operation to force the aggressor to peace, and then recognised South Ossetia, as well as Abkhazia, which was destined to the same fate as the neighbouring republic, as sovereign independent states, taking them under its protection.

📖 On September 13-15, 2023 the XV International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature anniversary Congress (#MAPRYAL) «Russian language and literature in a changing world» will be held in St. Petersburg with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
The substantive agenda of the upcoming event covers all the main areas of modern Russian studies, from the system-structural description of modern Russian language and issues of sociolinguistics to the methodological aspects of teaching Russian language, translation studies, literary criticism, legal linguistics and media linguistics.

🇷🇺🇿🇦📞 President of Russia Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa.
The President of South Africa gave a positive assessment of the results of the recent Russia–Africa Summit in St Petersburg, which are bound to further promote cooperation between Russia and African nations.
🤝 Following their separate meeting on July 29, Vladimir Putin and Cyril Ramaphosa discussed a number of practical issues of bilateral cooperation, with a focus on enhancing trade, economic and investment ties.
The presidents expressed a mutual desire to continue constructive cooperation on the current international agenda, including preparations for the upcoming BRICS Summit in Johannesburg on August 23–24.

❓: Уважаемый Анатолий Иванович, как бы Вы могли прокомментировать новую порцию заявлений представителей администрации о необходимости скорейшего возобновления «черноморской инициативы»?
💬 А.И.Антонов: Попытки Вашингтона оказать давление на развивающиеся страны с тем, чтобы «убедить» Российскую Федерацию вернуться в «зерновую сделку» являются частью информкампании по искажению реального положения дел. Таким образом здесь пытаются самоустраниться от ответственности за системные сбои в работе взаимоувязанных стамбульских договоренностей. Сместить фокус внимания широкой общественности с того, что вывоз зерна с территории Украины не соответствовал изначально заявленным гуманитарным целям.
📌 Различного рода «уговоры» по восстановлению «черноморской инициативы» лишены всякого смысла. Россия, как ответственная держава, заинтересованная в облегчении бремени беднейших государств, неоднократно, в т.ч. на высшем уровне, давала понять - дверь для восстановления «зерновой сделки» остается открытой. Все, что нужно от США и их союзников - не на словах, а на деле устранить перекосы в реализации «пакетных» сельхозсоглашений. В том числе нагроможденные барьеры для доступа российского агроэкспорта на мировые рынки.
📌 Звучащие от местных властей заявления о наличии пресловутых исключений и изъятий из нелегитимного санкционного механизма - очередная информационная «пустышка» и попытка сделать хорошую мину при плохой игре. Отечественные компании продолжают сталкиваются с финансовыми и логистическими сложностями - даже когда речь идет о безвозмездной передаче удобрений нуждающимся регионам.
📌 К слову, еще одним подтверждением того, что администрация только на словах заботится о благополучии беднейших стран, выступает ее желчная реакция на широкий жест Президента России, направленный на укрепление продовольственной безопасности ряда африканских партнеров. Судя по всему, здесь еще долго будут «переваривать» анонсированную В.В.Путиным бесплатную отправку по 25-50 тыс. тонн зерна государствам дружественного нам Континента.
📌 Хочется предложить местным русофобам: не нравится, что делает Россия в Африке - сделайте лучше. Покажите не на лозунгах, а на реальных действиях, как США заботятся о благосостоянии африканского народа. Считаете, что безвозмездные российские поставки зерна незначительны - объявите о более крупных партиях сельхозпродуктов для нужд Африки.
📌 Может быть, действительно настало время прекратить очернять все то позитивное, что делал в свое время Советский Союз и делает российский народ сейчас? Всем давно надоели морализаторские американские лекции. Нужно не поучать, а помогать. Не пустыми словами, а конкретными делами.

❓: Dear Ambassador Antonov, how could you comment on the new portion of statements by representatives of the U.S. Administration on the need to resume the «Black Sea Initiative» as soon as possible?
💬 Anatoly Antonov: Washington's attempts to put pressure on developing countries in order to «convince» the Russian Federation to return to the «grain deal» are part of an information campaign to distort the real situation. Thus, they are trying to ditch the responsibility for systemic distortions in the work of the interconnected Istanbul food agreements. Shift the focus of the general public’s attention from the fact that the export of grain from the territory of Ukraine did not correspond to the initially declared humanitarian goals.
📌 Various kinds of «persuasions» to restore the «Black Sea Initiative» do not make any sense. Russia as a responsible power, interested in easing the burden of the poorest states, repeatedly, including at the highest level, has made it clear that the door for the resumption of the «grain deal» remains open. All that is needed from the United States and its allies is to eliminate distortions in the implementation of interrelated agricultural agreements not in words, but in deeds as well as eliminate the piled up barriers that impede the access of Russian agricultural exports to world markets.
📌 Statements from local authorities about the so-called exceptions from the illegitimate sanctions mechanism represent another fake rhetoric and an attempt to save their face. Russian companies continue to experience financial and logistical challenges. Even when it comes to free of charge deliveries of fertilizers to the destitute regions.
📌 By the way, another confirmation that the U.S. Administration pays lip service to the well-being of the poorest countries is its toxic reaction to a generous gesture of the President of Russia, aimed at strengthening food security of a number of African partners. Apparently, it will take time for Washington to «digest» the free shipment of 25-50 thousand tons of grain to friendly countries across the African continent, which was announced by President Vladimir Putin.
📌 One would suggest to local Russophobes: if you don't like what Russia does in Africa, do it better. Show not in slogans, but in concrete deeds, how the United States cares about the well-being of the African people. If you think that free of charge Russian grain deliveries are insignificant then announce larger shipments of agricultural products for the needs of Africa.
📌 Maybe it is high time one stopped denigrating all the positive things that the Soviet Union used to do and the Russian people are doing now for Africa? Everyone grew weary of being lectured by the U.S. long time ago. Instead of preaching, one must help. Not by talking the talk, but by walking the walk.

Боевые действия, продолжавшиеся с июля 1941 года по август 1944 года, разворачивались на территории Ленинградской области, Эстонской ССР, на западе Калининской области и на юге Карело-Финской ССР.
С учётом промышленного и культурного значения города его уничтожение было определено в плане «Барбаросса» в качестве первостепенной задачи. После захвата Гитлер планировал использовать Ленинград как плацдарм для нанесения удара в тыл советским войскам, оборонявшим Москву.
Битву за город можно разделить на несколько этапов: оборона на дальних и ближних подступах, 872 дня блокады, её прорыв и наступление советских войск на северо-западном направлении. Вместо того, чтобы взять город за три недели, как рассчитывал Гитлер, фашистские войска провели на подступах к нему около трёх лет.
Пока Красная армия вела ожесточённые бои, жители города самоотверженно трудились и стойко переносили ужасы блокады. Её кольцо окончательно сомкнулось вокруг Ленинграда 8 сентября 1941 года. Более 2,8 млн человек, в том числе 400 тысяч детей, оказались во вражеских клещах в условиях суровой зимы, голода и непрерывных бомбардировок.
Благоприятные условия для освобождения города сложились в январе 1943 года, когда основные силы вермахта были стянуты к Сталинграду. В ходе операции «Искра» войска Ленинградского и Волховского фронтов сломили немецкую оборону, восстановив сухопутную связь города с Большой землёй.
🕯 Общие потери среди защитников и населения Ленинграда в ходе боёв и в результате блокады составили от 1,5 до 2 млн человек.
🎖 Свыше 350 тысяч солдат, офицеров и генералов Ленинградского фронта были награждены орденами и медалями, 226 из них присвоено звание Героя Советского Союза. Медалью «За оборону Ленинграда» награждено 1,5 миллиона человек. В 1965 году за героизм и мужество, проявленные жителями во время блокады, Ленинграду в числе первых было присвоено звание Города-героя.
