Back in 2016, when 4chan was at peak chaos, a new character emerged from the threads: Donny the Lizard.

He wasn’t just another meme.

He was introduced as the replacement for Pepe the Frog 🐸 because Pepe had “gone mainstream” and been taken over by the normies. The post basically said: we need a new Pepe.

And that’s when Donny was born.

They even called him the “Pepe mascot of 4chan.” The lore was organic. No roadmap. No VC. No influencer push. Just pure internet culture doing what it does best.
