π’ According to #UN figures, from 2018 to 2021,
81.4% of civilian casualties in the #Donbas war occurred in rebel-held territory as a result of Ukrainian #Minsk2 #ceasefire agreement #violations.
Whereas 16.3% were in Ukrainian gov't-controlled territory, most being Donbas response to a prior Ukrainian violation.
This is one key reality of the war that Western media refuses to report because it is too damned inconvenient for the "Ukraine is the victim!" narrative being peddled by Zelensky and his US puppet masters

πΊπ³πΊπ¬ UN human rights office shuts in Uganda
After 18 years of operating in Kampala, the UN's human rights mission will close on Saturday because the Ugandan government has ended its mandate.
Sub-offices in Gulu and Moroto, in northern Uganda, have already closed.
It comes after Uganda passed anti-LGBT laws against the advice of local and international rights groups, including the UN.
In a statement on Friday, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker TΓΌrk expressed deep concern about the run-up to elections in 2026, saying human rights defenders, civil society actors and journalists in Uganda were operating in an increasingly hostile environment.
He also was urging the government to ensure Uganda's national human rights body can function effectively and independently, as the main body tasked with human rights oversight in the country.

The UN Mission in Mali MINUSMA said on Sunday that it had sped up its withdrawal from a base in the town of Ber in the north due to tensions between the government and former Tuareg rebels.
Over the past few days, the Tuareg-led northern rebel alliance has accused Malian forces and Russian Wagner troops of violating a ceasefire by attacking its forces stationed near Ber.
The U.N. mission known as MINUSMA said in a statement it had "expedited its withdrawal from Ber due to the deteriorating security."
"It urges all concerned parties to refrain from any actions that could further complicate the operation," it said.

πΊπ³π³πͺ UN rights chief says Niger president treason case has "no legal basis"
The United Nations human rights chief on Friday said there was no legal basis for Niger's military junta to prosecute deposed president Mohamed Bazoum for high treason, saying the "very notion of freedoms" in the country was at stake.
"This decision is not only politically motivated against a democratically elected President but has no legal basis as the normal functioning of democratic institutions has been cast aside," U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk said in a statement.
"Generals cannot take it upon themselves to defy - at a whim - the will of the people. Rule-by-gun has no place in today's world," he added.

πΊπ³π²π± UN faces "difficult" next phase of MINUSMA pullout from Mali
The second phase of the withdrawal of UN peacekeepers from Mali will be very challenging due to a tight calendar and dangerous security conditions, the UN special representative to the country said on Monday.
The UN peacekeeping mission, known as MINUSMA, has to exit Mali until December 31.
Withdrawal operations were targeted, Special Representative of the Secretary-General told the UN Security Council Monday. He said the size of the convoys, involving hundreds of lorries, and the long distances they travel over inhospitable terrain leave them vulnerable.
By September 30, about one-third of Minusma's civilian staff will have been pulled out, he said.
The second phase, through December 15, will involve abandoning six bases in northern, northeastern and central Mali.
"This phase will be incredibly difficult indeed, the terrain is difficult and insecurity is an ever present threat," he said.

Russia put forward the draft resolution to rival a text from France and the United Arab Emirates that would extend the sanctions regime and independent monitoring for another year, but also express a readiness to review the measures.
The 15-member Security Council is due to vote on both draft resolutions later on Wednesday.

The United Nations on Friday demanded an "independent" probe after dozens of people were killed in a crackdown on an anti-UN protest in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

According to an assessment by the rights office, at least 43 people were killed, including a policeman, and 56 injured, Shamdasani said.
Shamdasani said at least 222 people were reportedly arrested, including women and children, and said that "the risk of human rights violations in such a charged context is high".

Patricia Aguilera, legal affairs director for El Salvadorβs Foreign Affairs Ministry, told lawmakers it was part of the countryβs commitment to the U.N.βs Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti.
She did not give an idea of the size of the El Salvador contingent and lawmakers did not seem to know. They would be limited to medical evacuations because that has been their experience in other U.N. missions, she said.
