"Today, our relations with Russia are military cooperation, as all our weaponry is Russian. That is, we need to maintain relations with Russia to ensure this [weapons provision], but we do not have any [Russian] military on our land. We do not need it... Our army can defend its territory on its own," Bakary Yaou Sangare told Sputnik.

Niger forced the withdrawal of the French military with no intention of inviting other military personnel to the country, he said, adding that the country needs to develop relations in intelligence, arms and logistics, but not in the field of armed forces.

On December 22, the last French troops deployed in Niger left the country at the request of the Nigerien new leaders, who took power after a military coup in July. The new authorities, along with Burkina Faso and Mali, ceased security and military cooperation.

🇮🇳 India Defense Exports to Reach $2.88 Billion in FY 2024: Finance Minister Sitharaman

Defense exports were to the tune of $2.4 billion so far in the current financial year, Finance Minister Sitharaman said.

India's defense forces are signing memorandum of understanding with micro, small and medium enterprises involved in defense production for 10 years if the products meet set standards, she said.

Defence Exports Grew 23 Times In 9 Years

“India’s defense exports have reached an all-time high, surging from ₹686 crore ($82 million) in FY 2013-14 to nearly ₹16,000 crore ($1.9 billion) in FY 2022-23. This remarkable 23-fold increase reflects India’s progress in the global defense manufacturing sector," the report said.

✔️ The government has implemented various policy initiatives and reforms in the past nine years to enhance defense exports, including:

◾️ Simplifying export procedures;

◾️ Introducing industry-friendly, end-to-end online export licensing to reduce delays.

🌍 Indian defense exports now go to more than 85 countries, including Russia, Poland, Spain, the Maldives and Nepal, according to an Indian media reports.
