A week earlier, Isabel was a monster Category 5 hurricane spinning in the western Atlantic when NOAA's #GOESEast 🛰️ caught a glimpse of this star-shaped pattern within its eye. Called mesovortices, these swirls can form within very intense tropical cyclones.
