Interesting, Persona is linked to Palantir. People are resisting and it needs to be a loud voice to retain freedom. Once freedom is lost, free will is next.

Florida… wtf are you doing?

🚨 Florida AG James Uthmeier says β€” The time for negotiations is over. Tech companies have 30 days from today to implement age restrictions on social media access for kids under 14. Within 60 days, parental consent must be in place for 14- to 16-year-olds.

πŸ”» My Thoughts:
I’m sorry… but this is bullshit. To implement this, there's no real way to find out if a user is underage without asking people to upload identification. This stinks like a backdoor to digital ID. Something Ron Desantis was repeated against.. what happened?

The fact is PARENTS… not the GOVERNMENT, are responsible for their children. And if PARENTS want to - every single platform online has Parental Controls which have existed for all operating systems.

But it’s too late…Florida's HB 3 has already passed and its law.

I’m getting real tired of the hypocrisy…

System76 is not just talking they are trying to push back against what could harm their business and everything they have worked for. Trust is important, and being forced to include government mandated spyware is a break of that trust even if it is the law.

The coverage of Age Verification is not a break from our mission. These laws are a threat to Linux and Open Source. Better to have head warning than be caught blindsided.

A very solid choice if you are into Arch Linux at all. Also noted is their stance on recent Age Verification. It seems this only just hit the community catching them off guard.

While we can be unsure how this is going to work, and we are not recommending it if you live in California. It's a principled stance. No matter how 'private' the compliance is it opens the door to much more invasive requirements.

The critics are correct. This is a consolidation of power and chocking of those who value privacy. Big Tech has already been connected to the assault on privacy. Especially Zuck and Meta.
