Grooming gang whistleblower Maggie Oliver says victims are being “betrayed once again”* because a loophole could allow some offenders convicted of historic child sex offences to be released after serving half their sentence.
Many of these offences happened before the law changed in 2003. Some offenders were convicted under older laws, meaning they may not be covered by the Government’s rules preventing serious child sex offenders from early release.

🇬🇧 Predator who added seven and eight-year-olds on Snapchat caught by decoy profile
Rehan Ali, 24, of Falsgrave Avenue, used snapchat between October and November 2024 to befriend two girls who were seven and eight years old.
Ali then contacted a child he believed to be a girl aged 13, on Facebook and then WhatsApp. He engaged in sexual communications making attempts to incite the child into sexual activity. This was a decoy profile operation by an online child abuse group.
On August 10 he was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court to six years in prison, given a sexual harm prevention order and made to sign the sex offenders register.

N. Korea Estimated To Have 80-120 Nuclear Weapons: South Korea's Minister
North Korea is estimated to have around 80 to 120 nuclear weapons, Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back said Thursday, declining to offer a specific figure, Yonhap reported.
"We typically see that North Korea has around 80 to 120 nuclear weapons, but I am very limited in providing a specific figure," Mr. Ahn told lawmakers.
Mr. Ahn made the remarks during a parliamentary session, after U.S. President Donald Trump claimed Pyongyang possesses 57 "very powerful" nuclear weapons. It marked the first time Trump has cited a specific figure regarding the North's nuclear arsenal.
Given Trump's remarks, the estimates held by South Korea and the United States regarding the North's nuclear stockpile "appear to be slightly different," Mr Ahn added.
It was considered rare for a South Korean, as well as U.S., government official to reveal a specific number for Pyongyang's nuclear arsenal, not only because such information is highly classified, but also because it may be misinterpreted as acknowledging the North as a nuclear-armed state.

The former Bishop of Broome, who at the peak of his powers was one of the most senior and long-serving Catholic clerics in the country, is found guilty of sexually abusing young men.
Christopher Alan Saunders, 76, has been on trial accused of sex offences against three young men when he was the Bishop of a remote area of Western Australia three times larger than England.
After a trial that ran for more than three weeks, a District Court jury took almost seven hours to find him guilty of abusing two of those men. He was convicted of one count of sexual penetration and 12 counts of indecent assault.

Eleven days before Oranga Tamariki was told of a major police investigation that involved the re-opening of 40 child protection complaints, police sought their help to identify a child linked to one of the cases under review.
Five days later, on 30 June, Oranga Tamariki (OT) replied saying it would grant access to the information request but, because of high demand, expected to provide the information by December.
Police responded saying they were "taking another look at an older file we believe holds risk for both police and OT"...
Police warned that waiting until December for the information "is going to create significant problems in addressing this risk".

After-all a childcare worker prolifically abusing 136 children didn't get caught until the AFP received a tip-off from a US agency. And only after he evidently stupidly uploaded incriminating evidence to the internet thereby coming to the attention of said US agency...
Of course, this has nothing to do with needing an excuse to bring in the mass surveillance necessary to keep the plebs in line - starting with the routine installation of surveillance cameras into childcare centres...

The Ministry of the Interior reported that between 2015 and 2024, 1,610 cases of human trafficking were registered in Colombia.
Of that total, 1,355 victims were women and girls, while 211 were men and boys.
According to the report, the main purpose of exploitation was sexual exploitation, with 1,086 cases (67%), followed by forced labor or services with 186 cases (11%), forced begging, slavery, and other forms of exploitation with 166 cases (10%), and forced marriage with 70 cases (5%).
The report indicates that many victims are recruited through job offers abroad related to modeling, waitressing, nannies, cosmetology, and beauty treatments.
The main destinations mentioned are Spain, Mexico, the United States, Panama, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic.
According to the information presented, Colombia continues to be a country of origin and transit for human trafficking, although there is no data reflecting internal trafficking...

A new Mississippi law added sexual battery of a child under 12 to the list of crimes eligible for the death penalty.
Senate Bill 2821, which took effect July 1, creates the crime of "capital sexual battery" and allows prosecutors to seek the death penalty against defendants 18 or older in qualifying cases involving victims younger than 12.
If a defendant is convicted, the jury must unanimously find at least two specific aggravating factors beyond a reasonable doubt before the defendant is eligible for the death penalty. At least 8 of the 12 jurors must then recommend death.
But if the death penalty is not recommended by jurors, the mandatory sentence would be life in prison without parole.

Meanwhile in the lands-down-under a childcare worker prolifically abusing 136 children didn't get caught until the AFP received a tip-off from a US agency...
...because apparently 136 disturbed children didn't provide enough opportunity to detect this dim-witted offender earlier?
So naturally the mass surveillance is commencing with the routine installation of surveillance cameras into childcare centres...
And with perpetrators known to the child in 90% of cases this surveillance wouldn't soon be coming to a home near you... ??
💡Suggestion:
How about a research project investigating the histories for these 136 children, identifying what warning signs were missed or ignored, and why - including what stupid assumptions and stupid theories (with no real evidence-base) were used to explain away their disturbance.
Otherwise maybe we should all just plan on getting used to living in the surveillance state.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier... discussed the figures, saying that the milestone reflects the “aggressive work” that state and local agencies have done to identify, arrest and prosecute “those who sexually exploit children.”
“Protecting our children is my No. 1 priority,” he said. “With over 2,000 child predators arrested since I took office, we are sending a clear message: if you prey on kids in this state, we will find you, arrest you, and put you behind bars.”

The new Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland has said she is "deeply concerned" by the number of investigations involving officers accused of abusing their position for sexual purposes.
Jacqui Durkin said these account for 36% of her office's most serious cases, and one of the investigations involves a former officer who was arrested last year on suspicion of rape and dozens of other alleged offences.
Durkin, who was appointed in June, told BBC News NI that the cases are among her top priorities...

A man from Leeds who forced more than 100 victims into sexual activity and self-harm as part of a Com group, including them carving his online username into their bodies, has been sentenced to two years in prison after a National Crime Agency investigation...
The NCA identified a total of 117 female victims worldwide, aging from 13 to 17, and with eight in the UK that Swaddle had been in communication with.
Telegram messages recovered from Swaddle's device showed he had attempted to incite a child to sexually abuse a younger child and record it for him, threatening to leak indecent images if further content was not received.
Using the NCA's International Liaison Officer network, investigators worked with law enforcement partners in the USA, Canada, Australia, Norway and New Zealand to speak to and safeguard victims.
Swaddle was charged with a number of child sexual abuse offences and blackmail...
