🇮🇹 Today I met with Italian Minister for @mimit_gov, @Adolfo_Urso, who is the candidate Chair of ESA’s upcoming Council Ministerial 2025. We discussed the evolution of packages and developments leading towards #CM25. Italy maintains a key role in forming the future of European space activities and to contributing towards Europe's overall resilience.

Tuttavia, mentre celebriamo il passato, prepariamo anche il futuro. In un'epoca di profondi mutamenti geopolitici, in cui l'imprevedibilità è ormai la nuova normalità, l'ESA è chiamata ad agire. Cinquant'anni fa i rappresentanti di 10 Paesi europei, tra cui l'Italia, firmarono la convenzione ESA, un "capolavoro giuridico" che ha dimostrato la propria validità e versatilità. In un mondo che stava rimarginando le ferite generate dalla divisione e dal nazionalismo, i firmatari scelsero l'unità. Noi, la scegliamo di nuovo a novembre. #CM25

I had a tour of the @Thales_Alenia_S Space Smart Factory in Rome, designed for the high-rate production of small and medium-sized satellites, targeting up to 2 satellites per week once fully operational! Ambitious and exciting. I look forward to seeing it fully up and running. I also visited Thales Alenia Space's Satellite Integration Center to see Galileo 2nd Generation and IRIDE satellites in their clean rooms.

Today ESA Council ensured that @EuropeSpacePort's access will be opened up to a wider variety of companies and launchers, as a new agreement between the 🇫🇷French government and @ESA on the Guiana Space Centre was adopted by our Member States. The agreement covers up to 2035 and paves the road for continuing exploitation of the ESA-developed Ariane and Vega launchers while ensuring that the spaceport is ready for new launch service providers. We are one step closer to fulfilling the Resolution adopted during the Space Summit in Seville in 2023.
