Today, in an 8-1 decision, the Supreme Court ruled in Chiles v. Salazar that Colorado’s law that barred licensed counselors from using “talk therapy” to counsel minors against homosexual attractions and against changing gender identity violates First Amendment free speech.
In the opinion, by Justice Gorsuch, the Court states, “Laws like Colorado’s, which suppress speech based on viewpoint, represent an egregious assault” on free speech rights.
