French authorities, alongside Europol, have reportedly raided Elon Muskβs X office in Paris, marking a significant escalation in Europeβs scrutiny of major tech platforms.
The raid is reportedly linked to investigations into platform compliance, moderation, and EU regulatory obligations, part of a broader push to curb Big Techβs influence.
This isnβt the first time France has taken a hard line. Telegram founder Pavel Durov was previously detained and questioned by French police, after repeatedly refusing to hand over user data, citing privacy and free-speech concerns.
With Muskβs X now under direct action, critics say this signals a broader trend:
Supporters argue itβs about regulation.
Opponents warn itβs about control.
What do you think?

Sumsub has disclosed a security incident dating back to July 2024, where an external actor submitted a malicious attachment via a third-party support ticketing system.
This led to limited, unauthorized access to a support-related internal environment. Sumsub states that core systems were not affected, and no sensitive verification data (IDs, biometrics, documents, or payment details) was compromised.
Potential exposure was limited to basic contact data (primarily names, with some emails or phone numbers).
For context, Fragment uses Sumsub for identity verification.
Affected clients have been notified, and additional security measures have been implemented. Users should remain cautious of unexpected messages or attachments.

Between late 2019 and 2021, Ramil Ventura Palafox promised investors daily returns of up to 3%, claiming their money would be traded in bitcoin and foreign exchange markets. Instead, prosecutors revealed he collected more than $201 million, including over 8,000 BTC, from more than 90,000 investors worldwide and used new deposits to pay earlier investors.
To maintain the illusion, he created a fake online portal that displayed fabricated profits and account balances. In reality, he spent roughly $3 million on luxury cars, millions more on designer watches, jewelry, and clothing, and purchased luxury homes in Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
β’ He pled guilty on September 16, 2025, and was sentenced to 20 years in prison on February 12, 2026.
β’ The case was investigated by the FBI and IRS. In addition to the prison sentence, victims may be eligible for restitution.
