๐Ÿ—“ On February 21, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation H.E. Mr. Andrey Rudenko ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ during his visit to Myanmar ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฒ held consultations on the prospects of the #ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership, as well as bilateral interaction between Moscow and Naypyidaw in a number of areas.

๐Ÿ”น๏ธHe was received by Prime Minister of Myanmar H.E. Mr. Min Aung Hlaing, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Than Swe and held talks with Deputy Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Lwin Oo.

๐Ÿ”น๏ธThe sides had a detailed exchange of views on further development of #ASEANRussia relations, including in light of the Myanmar's future role as the new country-coordinator of the ASEAN-Russia Dialogue Partnership.

๐Ÿ”น๏ธThe parties also confirmed the coincidence of the two countries' approaches on topical global and regional issues, mutual focus on further efforts to coordinate at multilateral and regional platforms in order to consolidate the foundations of multipolarity and strengthen the positions of the countries of the global South.
โฐ๏ธ Only a few hours left until the ASEAN-Russia Young Diplomats Summit kicks off in Sochi, Russia ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ.

It is a great opportunity for the young participants to discuss achievements and prospects of the #ASEANRussia cooperation as well as to come up with fresh ideas that will pave the way for new creative initiatives to empower youth and increase their opportunities to be involved in the desicion-making for the benefit of the well-being of our nations.

๐Ÿ—“ On March 2, Russia hosted the 1st ASEAN-Russia Young Diplomats Summit in Sochi ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ. The event was held under the Co-Chairmanship of Russia and Lao PDR ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฆ in conjunction with the VII Global Forum of Young Diplomats and on the sidelines of the World Youth Festival 2024 (#WYF2024).

๐Ÿ”น๏ธThe Summit brought together young diplomats from Russia and #ASEAN Member States, representatives of the Russia-ASEAN Business Council and the ASEAN Center in MGIMO University.

๐Ÿ”น๏ธDiplomats from ASEAN Member States and Russia exchanged views on the trends of modern diplomacy and shared their vision of the prospects for ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership. They discussed new areas of cooperation in the fields of science and education, volunteering, development of people-toโ€“people contacts, business, sports and e-sports ties.

๐Ÿ”น๏ธRussian Ambassador to ASEAN H.E. Mr. Evgeny Zagaynov in his welcoming remarks emphasized the special attention Russia is paying to strengthening youth-to-youth interaction with ASEAN countries. Executive Director of the Russia-ASEAN Business Council Daniyar Akkaziev noted the role of young entrepreneurs from Russia and ASEAN in promoting the creative industries. Experts from @aseancentremgimo discussed the importance of academic exchanges in deepening dialogue with the countries of Southeast Asia.

๐Ÿ”น๏ธThe ASEAN-Russia Young Diplomats Summit paved the way for new creative initiatives to empower youth and increase their opportunities to be involved in decision-making. Constructive engagements, dialogue and collaboration among young diplomats provide unique opportunities to forge trustworthy professional networks and lay a solid ground for close cooperation in future.

๐Ÿ”น๏ธThe delegates supported the initiative to hold meetings between young diplomats from Russia and ASEAN on a regular basis.

๐Ÿค Ambassador Zagaynov congratulated Datoโ€™ Astanah for assuming her position as the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Political-Security Community. They exchanged views on ways and means to further enhance ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership and discussed the preparation for the 20th ASEAN-Russia Senior Officialsโ€™ Meeting to be held in Russia in April 2024.

๐Ÿ—“ On April 3, the 11th Meeting of the ASEAN-Russia Joint Working Group on Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime was held online under the Co-Chairmanship of the Lao PDR ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฆ and Russia ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ.

๐Ÿ”น๏ธThis mechanism provides the opportunity for ASEAN and Russia to discuss ways and means of combatting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, which is of particular importance in the current conditions when international security faces multiple threats.

โ—๏ธ ASEAN partners strongly condemned the bloody terrorist attack on March 22 at Crocus City Hall, expressing their solidarity with the Russian side.

๐Ÿ”น๏ธ The meeting participants confirmed their readiness to work together to eradicate the root causes of terrorism and suppress its financing.

๐Ÿค Experts from ASEAN and Russia exchanged views on regional and global threats to anti-terrorism security and confirmed readiness to build up relevant ASEAN-Russia cooperation as well as outlined further practical steps in this field.

๐Ÿ”น๏ธASEAN and Russia agreed to hold the next meeting of the Joint Working Group in Malaysia ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พ in 2025.

๐Ÿ—“ On April 24, the 4th ASEAN-Russia Consultations of the High Representatives for Security Issues were successfully held in Saint Petersburg on the sidelines of the 12th International Meeting of High-Ranking Officials Responsible for Security Matters.

๐Ÿ”น๏ธ The meeting was co-chaired by Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation H.E. Mr. Nikolai Patrushev ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ and Deputy Director General of the General Department of Research and Intelligence, Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia H.E. Major General Duong Uddam ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ญ.

๐Ÿ”น๏ธ High-ranking officials from ASEAN Member States and ASEAN Secretariat attended the meeting. Participants exchanged views on regional security in Asia-Pacific, discussed issues related to the system of strategic stability and arms control.

๐Ÿ”น๏ธ During the meeting Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation H.E. Mr. Nikolai Patrushev ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ reaffirmed Russia's commitment to ASEAN centrality in the region and its will to further deepen cooperation with #ASEAN in all dimensions including security.

๐Ÿ”น๏ธThis unique ASEAN-Russia platform proved to be an important venue for professional and open dialogue on issues related to regional and global security as well as developing multilateral interaction in combating common challenges and threats.

๐Ÿ—“On April 26, Saint Petersburg ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ hosted the 20th ASEAN-Russia Senior Officials' Meeting (#ARSOM).

๐Ÿ”น๏ธThe meeting was co-chaired by the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation H.E. Mr. Andrey Rudenko ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ and Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia H.E. Mr. Kung Phoak ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ญ.

๐Ÿ”น Participants discussed ways and means of further promoting the ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership in political, economic and humanitarian spheres. They agreed to undertake steps to deepen practical cooperation in such areas as science and technology, energy security, education, people-to-people ties and digitalization.

๐Ÿ”นThe meeting reiterated shared intention to jointly address challenges and threats, strengthen ASEAN-led regional security architecture in Asia-Pacific. Issues of promoting cross-platform links between #ASEAN, #EEU and #SCO were also on the agenda.

#ASEAN SOM Leaders and Deputy SecGen of ASEAN for Political-Security Community Datoโ€™ Astanah Abdul Aziz and their respective delegations visited Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery and took part in the Wreath-Laying Ceremony to the Motherland Monument in Saint Petersburg ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ as part of the 20th ASEAN-Russia Senior Officials' Meeting (#ARSOM).

โ˜๏ธ The Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery is considered as the biggest military cemetery in the world. More than 500 000 defenders and victims of the siege of Leningrad during the WWII are buried there.
