U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth discussed details regarding March airstrikes on the Houthis in another group chat, that this time included his wife, brother, and personal attorney, said Reuters citing a source "familiar with the matter".

Apparently, this second chat included over a dozen people and was created for the purpose of discussing administrative issues but still included details of the schedule of the airstrikes.

Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell responded by accusing "Trump-hating media" of attempting to destroy anyone committed to Trump's agenda and characterised their actions as an "obsession".

The Al-Qassam Brigades (armed wing of Hamas) has released footage showing their fighters conducting two attacks on Israeli forces.

The first attack was on an Israeli "AIL Storm" military jeep from the command of combat intelligence collection Battalion in the IDF's Gaza Division. At least five Al-Qassam fighters emerged from a tunnel very close to the Gaza-Israel border, near the city of Beit Hanoun in the northern part of the strip and fired a Yassin-105mm (PG-7VR) Dual-warhead Tandem anti-tank missile and a PG-7V anti-tank missile, before firing on it with rifles, resulting in the vehicle flipping.

The second attack involved the firing of four PG-7V anti-tank missiles, as well as M61 mortar shells towards Israeli positions.

This shows that Hamas maintains the ability to conduct coordinated attacks with proper intelligence and operational awareness. The group of fighters seen in the first attack are also properly equipped with body armour and weaponry.

In the Lyman direction, Russian forces advanced and captured new positions in the village of Nove.

Russian forces captured two forests and a treeline on the eastern bank of a tributary of the Zherebets River, before capturing the houses there which make up the southeastern part of Nove. They then crossed the tributary, capturing the southwestern part of the village, as well as a forest, and some warehouses further west.

In the Kostyantynivka direction, Russian forces advanced and entered the village of Dachne.

Russian forces advanced north up a treeline and then west down another one, reaching the northeastern outskirts of Dachne. They then pushed into the village, capturing positions in the houses there and reaching the railway line. Most of the northern section of the village is either under Russian control or in the grey zone, however Ukrainian forces maintain control over the northern-most houses.

Additionally, the frontline was corrected to the south, with Russian forces being in full control of the forest northwest of the town of Pivnichne.

In the Kostyantynivka direction, Russian forces continued to advance and have captured most of the villlage of Sukha Balka.

Russian forces advanced in three main areas. In the east, they pushed down two treelines and captured positions along them as well as three perpendicular ones. To the southwest they captured the warehouses on the southeastern outskirts of Sukha Balka and advanced into the village from the neighbouring village of Valentynivka, capturing the central part. In the west Russian forces marginally advanced north and reached the next treeline, capturing positions along it.

The U.S. and The Philippines have begun this year's "Balikatan" military exercise in the Luzon straight. Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. stated that these exercises are focused on assessing and enhancing interoperability in responding to various threats on land, sea and air. It will also include some elements in the cyber domain.

The Australian and Japanese militaries will also take part in this years' exercises. Brawner reiterated his "ironclad" relationship with the US and the Philippines and other nations with shared "vital interests" and said that they are "ready to meet challenges in the region and defend a free and open Indo-Pacific."

Additionally, for the first time, the 3rd Marine Littoral Regiment’s Medium-Range Missile Battery will send Naval Strike Missile-equipped Navy-Marine Expeditionary Ship Interdiction Systems (NMESIS) to the Luzon straight. They will be airlifted to multiple islands in Batanes by the U.S. Army's 25th Combat Aviation Brigade and U.S. Air Force's 29th Tactical Airlift Squadron from Northern Luzon.

This is the 40th Balikatan exercise and is set to conclude on May 9. Approximately 17,000 military personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and United States Indo-Pacific Command (Indopacom) will take part.
