Update from Gaza.

Israeli forces are continuing to move forward with operation "Gideon's Chariot" and have rapidly advanced in two parts of the strip.

In the Northern Governorate, IDF armoured units advanced from their initial incursion line southwest of the city of Beit Hanoun, and advanced over the Salah Al-Deen highway, entering the southeastern part of the Jabalia Refugee Camp. Israeli forces are just a few hundred metres away from their former command and control centre at the former Jabalia Civil Defence building.

IDF armoured units advanced to the north and entered the city of Beit Lahiya, surrounding the Indonesian Hospital and taking up positions in the surrounding neighbourhoods. There is a large number of families, injured people and medical personnel trapped inside the hospital, with reports of Israeli soldiers firing at the hospital building. Heavy artillery shelling targeted the surrounding areas prior to IDF units moving in to occupy the positions. The hospital yard and gate have been demolished by engineering units, and appeals have been made to the Red Cross to evacuate those trapped in the hospital.

In the Central Governorate, Israeli forces advanced from two directions. In the southwest they pushed with multiple attack vectors to the town of Al-Fukhkhari, moving between it and the European Hospital. They also occupied the western areas of Al-Fukhkhari. In the northeast, Israeli tanks moved from their initial incursion line east of Abasan Al-Kabira and entered the outskirts of the Khuzaa. An advance was then spearheaded to the southwest, where Israeli forces reached the Theima neighbourhood. They will probably soon link up with the other forces advancing from the southwest. Evacuation orders were issued for the Al-Qarara area, the Salqa municipality, the south of Deir al-Balah, and the Al-Jaafarawi, Al-Suwar, Abu Hadab, and Al-Satr neighborhoods.

Heavy artillery, airstrikes, drone strikes and gunfire from vehicles continues throughout the strip on the highest level seen since the collapse of the ceasefire in March.

During the special forces operation on the centre of Khan Younis, the IDF assassinated the commander of Hamas' southern Khan Younis Battalion (part of the larger Khan Younis brigade), Mehdi Kawara, as well as a senior commander in the Resistance Committees, Ahmed Kamel Sarhan.
