Babak Behzad is a technical lead at Solvvy, where he leads machine learning efforts on Natural Language Processing. Before Solvvy, he was leading Big Data services performance engineering at Altiscale. Altiscale got acquired by SAP in September of 2017. Prior to joining Altiscale, Babak earned his PhD at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, working on High-Performance Computing. Babak won Kenichi Miura Award in 2014, which honors graduate students for outstanding accomplishments in High-Performance Computing.

Since September 2014 he is a PhD student in Data Analytics group at ETHZ. He completed his M.S. in Artificial Intelligence at Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, and worked at the Empirical Inference Department of the Max Planck Institute in Tübingen as a research intern. He got his B.S. in Computer Engineering from Sharif University of Technology.

Mehrdad Farajtabar is a Ph.D. student in school of Computational Science and Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology. His research interests are machine learning and scalable data mining methods for the analysis and modeling of real world networks and processes over them. Mehrdad has interned at Google, Max Planck Institute, Microsoft Research and DeepMind. Prior to joining Georgia Tech, he received his B.Sc. in Software Engineering and his M.Sc. in Artificial Intelligence both from Sharif University of Technology.

“Babak Saleh is a Machine Learning Scientist at AIG Investments, where he develops machine learning based solutions for the problems in the field of financial investments. He graduated with a Ph.D. in computer science at Rutgers University with a focus on computer vision, machine learning, and human perception. Inspired by human visual perception, his thesis proposes computational models for measuring typicality of an image and its applicationsin learning robust visual classifiers. He holds a M.Sc. in Computer Science and a second M.Sc. in Statistics from Rutgers University. He completed his undergraduate studies in Computer Science and Mathematics at Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, Iran. He is the recipient of outstanding student paper award from AAAI 2016, NSF I-Corps award, and multiple travel award from CVPR, ICCV, ICML, and IJCAI. His research has been recognized by major media and press outlets, including NBC News, PBS, New York Times, Washington Post, WIRED, Fast Company and IEEE MultiMedia. ”

Bahman Yari is an R&D engineer working with EIS company in the area of machine learning and computer vision. Bahman is passionate about and conducts independent research in the intersection of probability theory and optimization as well as various direct applications in machine learning. He received his MSc degree from Simon Fraser University in 2010.
