Inside the monotonous bustle,
Amidst the clamor, paper’s rustle —
Whatever morning brought on tray,
To the selfsame dish I fell prey.

The mundane beast caught me indeed,
I sought the way to flee his claws!
Behold, I see where rescue glows —
By mere one thing I’ve been freed.

Edenic cure I’ve truly found,
Naysayers’ mistrust I refute!
The soul of mine loves soothing sound —
A poem’s one, akin to flute.

As World Poetry Day is nigh at hand, which is going to land on March 21st, we suggest you attending some of the prominent events dedicated to the realm of lyrics. Poetry is Saint Petersburg's integral constituent, and fellow poets alongside with other intelligentsia have been gathering together since no more clearances were needed to claim the city's status as the center of poetry in Russia. Enrich yourself culturally by participating in sharing your own pieces, or listening to thrilling lectures about poets of the past!

⭐ Club of Non-anonymous Poets and Musicians

Therapeutic meetings of the deeply ill and sympathetic. You can if you are a poet or a musician, or just a sympathizer who is ready to listen to all of this madness.

Poets can come without registration. Musicians perform by appointment, you need to choose a time in advance and record it with a musical post or write a personal message to one of the organizers (in the VK group).

⭐ Idols of the 20th Century — Russian Poets

This poetry evening will feature poems by famous poets — Igor Severyanin, Ivan Bunin, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Boris Pasternak, Andrei Voznesensky, Joseph Brodsky, as well as those who were very popular in their time, but are now almost unknown to their contemporaries, such as Boris Ryzhy, Gennady Aygi, Pavel Vasiliev, Ilya Selvinsky and others.

⭐ «Marina Tsvetaeva and Osip Mandelstam. Verse novel» in the Stray Dog Café

The joyful and sorrowful meeting of the two poets resulted in beautiful poems. This evening, held in the authentic Stray Dog Café, which used to be a meeting place for writers and poets at the beginning of the twentieth century, suggests you an enthralling program by the laureate of international festivals.

✍️ INTERNATIONAL POETRY DAY — Russian poets #1 ✍️

📜On the 21st of March, we celebrate International Poetry Day. In honor of this day, we'll tell you about Russian poets from classic to modern!

🔸Александр Сергеевич Пушкин (1799-1837)
Личность этого поэта известна каждому россиянину и многим иностранцам. Он стал символом Золотого века русской литературы. Его произведения популярны среди людей абсолютно всех возрастов. На сказках Пушкина выросло не одно поколение детей, его стихи учат в школах, а легендарный "Евгений Онегин" цитируется и экранизируется до сих пор. Более того, Александр Сергеевич стал основоположником современного русского языка!

💡Интересный факт: Пушкин - один из первых авторов в жанре мистической повести в России. Его "Пиковая дама" по сей день ставится на сцене театров и считается бессмертной классикой.

🔸Афанасий Афанасьевич Фет (1820-1892)
Один из известнейших поэтов XIX века. Среди его стихотворений: "Учись у них - у дуба, у березы", "На заре ты ее не буди...", "Ель рукавом мне тропинку завесила..." и другие. Фет является одним из представителей эпохи романтизма. В его стихотворениях преобладает философская и любовная тематика. Творчество поэта также изучается и анализируется в российских школах.

💡Интересный факт: другой российский поэт, Николай Алексеевич Некрасов, называл Фета единственным поэтом, который мог бы конкурировать с Пушкиным.

🔸 Владимир Владимирович Маяковский (1893-1930)
Российский и советский поэт, икона Серебряного века русской поэзии. Маяковский работал в направлении футуризма. Поэт выделялся своим ярким образом. Высокий и эксцентричный молодой человек, чьи стихи были не просто стихами, а настоящими лозунгами, которые он выкрикивал, словно глашатай. Это можно заметить в стихотворениях "Послушайте!", "Нате!", "Левый марш". Также Маяковский запоминается своим особым стилем оформления строк "лесенкой".

💡Интересный факт: до прихода советской власти Маяковского трижды арестовывали за революционную пропаганду. В тюрьме он снова стал писать стихи, которыми в дальнейшем не был доволен.
