Egypt, Algeria, DRC, Cameroon, Zimbabwe, and Guinea — each with unique histories, traditions, and incredible people who make PolyUnion a bridge to African cultures.

From the pyramids of Egypt to the music of Cameroon, the rich minerals of the DRC to the resilient spirit of Zimbabwe, the cultural fusion of Algeria to the rhythms of Guinea—each nation adds something special to our shared experience.

🎨RUSSIAN CREATORS #5🎨
In the new part of the Russian Creators rubric, we will tell you about three outstanding Russian artists.

🔸Mikhail Vrubel
One of the most mysterious creators of Russian painting. He believed that nature was not just alive, but inhabited by spirits! His works reflect many mythological, mystical and biblical subjects. His famous «Demon Seated», «Demon Flying» and «Demon Defeated» symbolize the death of this world.

🔸Ilya Repin
A world-famous Russian artist. He is famous for being able to accurately convey the emotions of each character in his paintings. This is especially noticeable in such works as «They Didn't Expect Him», «The Zaporozhian Cossacks Write a Letter to the Turkish Sultan» and «October 17, 1905». Moreover, Repin was a terrible perfectionist, and constantly tried to bring his paintings to perfection, even when they were at exhibitions!

🔸Kazimir Malevich
A legendary Soviet avant-garde artist of Polish origin. Famous for his «Black Square», he became a symbol of an era in the history of art. His works are a real performance! This is a protest against the established traditions of painting. The reason for this was the advent of photography, which means, according to the philosophy of the avant-garde, there is no point in a photorealistic depiction of the world. The idea of ​​​​Malevich's paintings is the primacy of geometric forms.
📌 You can see Kazimir Malevich's paintings in the Russian Museum, and the Hermitage has one of the copies of the «Black Square».

🔳«Avant-garde» is our tutor's project. Together with a small team, he is developing a video game that reveals the philosophy of Russian painters. They also run a VK community where they tell interesting, unusual and mystical facts from the biographies of artists and their paintings. 🔸Михаил Врубель
Один из самых загадочных творцов русской живописи. Он считал природу не просто живой, а населенной духами! В его работах отражено много мифологических, мистических и библейских сюжетов. Его знаменитые «Демон сидящий», «Демон летящий» и «Демон поверженный» символизируют смерть этого мира.

🔸Илья Репин
Известный по всему миру русский художник. Он славится тем, что мог с точностью передавать эмоции каждого героя на своих картинах. Это особенно заметно на таких работах, как «Не ждали», «Запорожцы пишут письмо турецкому султану» и «17 октября 1905 года». Более того, Репин был страшным перфекционистом, и постоянно пытался довести свои картины до идеала, даже когда они находились на выставках!
📌 Увидеть картины Ильи Репина можно в Русском музее и Музее-усадьбе «Пенаты».

🔸Казимир Малевич
Легендарный советский художник-авангардист польского происхождения. Известный своим «Черным квадратом», он стал символом эпохи в истории искусства. Его работы — это настоящий перфоманс! Это протест против устоявшихся в живописи традиций. Причиной этому стало появление фотографии, а значит, согласно философии авангардистов, нет смысла в фотореалистичном изображении мира. Идея картин Малевича заключается в главенстве геометрических форм.
📌 Увидеть картины Казимира Малевича можно в Русском музее, а в Эрмитаже находится один из экземпляров «Черного квадрата».

🔳«Авангард» — проект нашего тьютора. Вместе с небольшой командой он разрабатывает видеоигру, раскрывающую философию русских живописцев. RUSSIAN CREATORS #6🎨
The second part of our rubric about Russian famous artists.

🔸Viktor Vasnetsov (1848-1926)

A famous artist, master of folklore and historical painting. He is known to many for his paintings depicting the heroes of Russian fairy tales and epics. For example, «The Flying Carpet», «Bogatyrs», «The Knight at the Crossroads». These images are familiar to Russians since childhood. Vasnetsov's works, like no other, reflect the originality and beauty of our culture.

📌 You can see Vasnetsov's paintings in the Russian Museum until June 23 or in the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.

🔸Ivan Shishkin (1832-1898)

They called him «The Tsar of the Forest» and for good reason. In his landscapes, Shishkin really loved to depict the forest, and he did it like no one else. Looking at his paintings, you feel cozy and calm, as if you were at home. «Morning in a Pine Forest», «Rye», «Evening» — in all these works you can see the grandeur of the Russian forest. Moreover, the first one is used by the confectionery factory «Red October» to decorate the wrapper of the candies «Clumsy Bear».

🔸Arkhip Kuindzhi (1841-1910)

Another outstanding landscape painter. In his canvases, he was able to depict the play of light. In order for the painting to reflect light, Kuindzhi used chemical materials, such as bitumen. In the landscapes «Moonlit Night on the Dnieper», «Red Sunset», and «North», the sky occupies a large space. It is amazing how the expanse of the sky can cause such a storm of emotions!

🔸Виктор Васнецов (1848-1926)
Знаменитый живописец, мастер фольклорной и исторической живописи. Известен многим за картины, изображающие героев русских сказок и былин. Например, «Ковёр-самолёт», «Богатыри», «Витязь на распутье». Эти образы знакомы русским с детства. Работы Васнецова как ничьи лучше отражают самобытность и красоту нашей культуры.
📌 Увидеть картины Васнецова можно в Русском музее до 23 июня или в Третьяковской галерее в Москве.

🔸Иван Шишкин (1832-1898)
Его звали «Царь леса» и неспроста. На своих пейзажах Шишкин действительно любил изображать лес, и делал это как никто другой. Смотря на его картины, ощущаешь уют и спокойствие, будто оказался дома. «Утро в сосновом лесу», «Рожь», «Вечер» — на всех этих работах видишь величие русского леса. Более того, первая используется кондитерской фабрикой «Красный Октябрь» для оформления обертки конфет «Мишка косолапый».

🔸Архип Куинджи (1841-1910)
Еще один выдающийся пейзажист. На своих полотнах он смог изобразить игру света. Для того, чтобы картина могла отражать свет, Куинджи использовал химические материалы, например, битум. На пейзажах «Лунная ночь на Днепре», «Красный закат», и «Север» большое пространство занимает небо. Это удивительно, как небесная гладь может вызывать такую бурю эмоций!
📌 Увидеть картины Куинджи можно в музее-квартире по адресу: Биржевой переулок, дом 1/10, кв. 11, 4 этаж.
