Did you know that Maslenitsa week of 2024 has already started on Monday?
Have you already tasted delicious "блины" this week?
💯 If you didn't have chance to eat "блинчики", then it's the best time to do it!
🌞 Maslenitsa week is definitely known as a week of fun time, "blinchiki" and "blini", but if we look at the history, we will see that it is much more than that and celebrated for a very long period of time, starting from pagan times.
🌞 For pagans Maslenitsa was held on spring equinox day (when the day and the night are equal) which marked the beginning of warm times (Spring), and the end of cold (Winter).
🌞️ With time the religion in Russia changed but the tradition of celebrating Maslenitsa stayed even when the Christianity as the main faith. It adapted and became a week before Lent when people could have fun and eat as much as they wanted to.

🌞 В 104-й день после зимнего солнцестояния (15-й день после весеннего равноденствия) китайцы выезжают на природу, чтобы насладиться наступлением весны, посещают могилы предков, прибирают их, оставляя пачки жертвенных денег (или иные символичные предметы).
