A medieval tale by Howard Pyle from 1888. A young lad is embroiled in the chaos of his father's blood feud with a rival robber baron and longs for the peace and quiet of the monastery where he was raised. It's accompanied by Pyle's wonderful drawings that are evocative of Durer.

Every once in a while I remember the legendary American stop motion animator Ray Harryhausen and start watching his films again. I thought it would be fitting to do some drawings this time around.

This is a scene from The Golden Voyage of Sinbad where the centaur emerges from his gloomy cavern. A scene full of foreboding and menace and also a brilliant composition too.
