Some sketchbook pages I never uploaded, just stuff for practice, mostly figurative as that's what I wanted to improve. Drawing from statues is most helpful.

Been a bit quiet on here as of late but that's because I've been putting all my time into bigger projects that I am looking forward to sharing in the coming months. Cheers!
Some studies from 2018 when I had first started taking drawing a bit more seriously.
Oil paintings from my school boy days as a sensitive young man
Drawing of the statue of King Arthur (he will return) by Peter Vischer the Elder, designed by Albrecht Durer. It stands amongst other historical and mythical figures in Hofkirche in Innsbruck, Austria, as part of the tomb of Emperor Maximillian I.
I was fortunate enough to be tasked by Dave Martel to create the cover artwork for his debut fantasy novel, Grimurth Shall Burn. It's a grimdark sword and sorcery
yarn of mythopoetic grandeur and high weirdness.

It was a real pleasure working closely with Dave to create an illustration which represents his story and decorate the book with fitting aesthetics. One of my favourite projects to date.

It’s always a significant moment for me getting to hold a book which I’ve done the cover for. Dave was one of the first guys to give me a shot when I was an unknown artist lurking on Telegram a few years ago and he continues to provide opportunities for me.

Commissioning artists in this age of AI slop is valuing people over machines, quality over quantity, culture over nihilism and principles over profiteering.

It’s not ‘elites’ who are supporting artists though or setting out to breath life and vigour back into fantasy and fiction - they’ve been subverting it instead. It’s only good folks doing this as they follow their true callings and bring better things into this world. With their support I continue to try and do the same.

A copy of Albert Bloch's 1942 painting entitled 'Through the Night'
Original illustrations by the Italian artist Gianni Benvenuti for the book "The Knights of King Arthur" published in 1965.

He was clearly a man who was deeply connected to and invigorated by his Italian heritage, channeling the power and grandur of the early Renaissance in the 20th century.

Inspiring stuff indeed.
