A liquidity pool is essentially a storage of funds for each token pair. When making a swap, you deposit one token into the pool to withdraw another of equivalent value. It’s important to remember that the token’s price isn’t fixed—it rises when you buy and falls when you sell.

🤷 How do tokens end up in liquidity pools?

Now we’ve reached the point where liquidity providers (LP) come into play. Anyone can deposit two tokens of equal value in $ into a pool and receive special LP tokens in return. These LP tokens gradually increase in value as trading fees are reinvested into the pool, providing a source of passive income for liquidity providers.

🔍 Where to become a liquidity provider on TON?

This can be done directly in Telegram through Apps Center, which offers several options like DeDust.io, STON.fi, and TONCO. An interesting aspect is that these exchanges incentivize liquidity provision with features like boosts and farming, offering additional rewards and opportunities.

🐠 Phishing. The most common and obvious type of scam. Example: You’re added to a chat or receive a message like “You’ve been gifted Telegram Premium—activate it now” or “I want to buy your asset on exchange.” Naturally, the exchange link is fake. The moment you enter your credentials on the scam platform, they are instantly stolen.

Always check the URL for any inconsistencies, and before confirming any transaction, carefully review its details.

🥸 Impersonation. Another form of phishing, where a “representative” of a project messages you directly after you’ve posted in its chat. Attention to detail is key to spotting the fake—these scammers often alter a single letter in their username to mimic the person they’re pretending to be.

In this case, extra caution is needed, as finding the real usernames of the people scammers impersonate is much harder than verifying the correct link to a platform.

👾 Rug pull. And here we are, at what’s often referred to as “legal” fraud. As you may know, anyone can create a token on TON, which means there’s nothing stopping people from selling off the token’s liquidity and disappearing with your money, as this possibility is built right into the ecosystem.

Before buying a “promising token with high potential,” take the time to thoroughly research it: How long has it been around? What’s the reputation of its creators—are they even known? Is their token share locked for a certain period (if so, they’re likely interested in keeping it alive for as long as possible)?
