Andy Burnham announced scrapping of official Digital ID scheme after millions rejected “Digital Papers Please”

At the same time, related platform One Login has quietly expanded across 200+ government services - with more planned

Our task now is to ensure systems such as One Login, the GOV UK App and Government Wallet cannot become Digital ID in all but name through expansion, function creep or the erosion of offline alternatives

DIGITAL ID: "I wouldn't trust them with the keys to my flat, let alone my biometrics and personal data"

Together welcomes new PM Burnham’s decision to scrap the national digital ID scheme - but we must not allow digital ID “by stealth”

Any expansion of the Government’s digital wallet, GOV UK app, and One Login - a centralised access system requiring citizens to hand over private data - must be strictly curtailed, or it risks becoming a digital ID system in all but name

ONE LOGIN: "This will be worse than Horizon scandal" - David Davis

"The entire population's data will be open to malevolent actors, foreign nations, ransomware criminals, hackers, their enemies... (One Login is) scandalously insecure"

One Login is steadily bringing more personal information into one place and has expanded across 200+ government services already - while grave security concerns persist
Important: Our X accounts appear to have been attacked - please help

Hi, we need your help, please.

Two X (Twitter) accounts connected with Together appear to have been compromised in what may have been a targeted attack.

We appear to have regained control of our main account, but right now co-founder Alan Miller is completely locked out of his account.

IMPORTANT: In the event you have recently received an unexpected Direct Message on X/Twitter from either account, please do not click links or otherwise engage.

We now urgently need to get the attention of a real person at X who can help us secure Alan's account and investigate what has happened.

Could you please help us get their attention, by:

1) If you have an X account, please REPOST Together's post here: https://x.com/Togetherdec/status/2085693139583373787

and

2) Reply tagging @Support, asking them to urgently help us sort this out...

You could simply say something like:

@Support @elonmusk @x please urgently help @alanvibe who with compromised account, and malicious DMs sent. Human support needed to secure the account.

Or put it in your own words.

Please help us make enough noise that somebody at X sees this and takes action.

Thank you so much - we'd really appreciate it if you can help us to make as loud a "noise" as possible.

One Login has quietly expanded across 200+ government services - with more planned

Why is a system of this significance being allowed to scale to millions of people without full public debate?

People deserve clarity on what kind of national system is being built in their name

Scrapping the official Digital ID scheme is only the first step

We must also ensure that connected systems such as One Login, the GOV UK App and Government Wallet cannot evolve into digital ID in all but name through expansion, function creep or the erosion of offline alternatives

The real test is not what the system is called, but what it can do, how widely it can be used, and whether people remain free to live their lives without relying on or being forced into it

On 25 April, we held SCRAP DIGITAL ID rallies in London Trafalgar Square, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast

But scrapping the official Digital ID scheme is only the first step

We must also stop other government systems like One Login evolving into Digital ID in all but name, through expansion, function creep or the loss of offline alternatives

We can make a difference #together
We said SCRAP DIGITAL ID #together - now Andy Burnham says the official scheme is scrapped

Now, we must ensure connected systems such as One Login, the GOV UK App and Government Wallet cannot become Digital ID in all but name through expansion, function creep or the erosion of offline alternatives

With over a year of non‑stop campaigning on this issue, events, rallies, outreach, hundreds of thousands of leaflets, emailing MPs, posting to Burnham’s office, stunts, & more...

We can and HAVE made a difference #together

Now we must keep taking action to secure the free future we want
