After his release from federal prison in 1950, William Dudley Pelley discussed his politico-economic theory for The Christian Commonwealth, first introduced in his 1932 work No More Hunger. Known as one of "The Founding Fathers of Authentic American Fascism," alongside Lawrence Dennis, Ezra Pound, Gerald Burton Winrod, Father Charles Coughlin, Joe McWilliams, and Lothrop Stoddard. Pelley led the Silver Legion of America (Silvershirts) from 1933 to 1940. Alongside his political activities, he promoted a unique heretical Christian mysticism known as the Liberation-Soulcraft doctrine. Pelley was a highly prolific figure, producing numerous books, novels, short stories, film scenarios, and magazine publications. This description is based on surviving lecture recordings totaling around 40 hours.
β€œBy the time you receive this letter I shall be on the road to St. Louis and parts north together with a uniformed squad of young men composing what I believe will be the first Silver Shirt storm troop in America.”

Gerald L.K. Smith, letter to William Dudley Pelley, August 15, 1933.

β€œPelley's eclectic interests covered a spectrum of movements, including Gnosticism, fascism, Rosicrucianism, Theosophy, New Age philosophy, Anglo-Israelism (Christian Identity), Mormonism, Pyramidism, telepathy, sexology, Hermeticism, Emersonianism, the study of aliens and UFOs, psychology, and extra-sensory perception related to quantum physics. By delving into Pelley's wide-ranging connections, historical significance, and diverse ideas, one can better understand the extensive cultural context often termed the "cult milieu." Despite being a lesser-known figure in American history, Pelley's lasting impact is evident in various aspects of contemporary culture.”
