Taliban prepare to form new cabinet as U.S. evacuation nears end
The Taliban said on Saturday they were preparing a new cabinet as the U.S. evacuation nears its end and they expected that sharp currency falls and economic turmoil following their takeover of Kabul two weeks ago would subside.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin instructed "more than a dozen" of the DoD’s top officials to prepare for an imminent “mass casualty event,” in Kabul HOURS before the deadly blast last Thursday.
“I don’t believe people get the incredible amount of risk on the ground,” Austin said, according to the classified notes, seen by Politico.
Yet the Pentagon DELAYED closing Abbey Gate access point to allow Brits to evacuate - the ISIS-K attack on the gate killed over 200 people, including 13 American service members.
One anonymous Defense official insisted there was “no White House micromanagement” of efforts to prevent the attack, and that commanders on the ground were trusted to take action “as they saw fit”.
