In the latest beta version 2.26.6.9, the Status section is being moved directly to the top of the Chats home screen — right under the search bar (Ask Meta AI or Search), instead of staying inside the Updates tab.

From the screenshot:
• Status bubbles appear at the top of homepage
• Updates tab may focus more on Channels
• Faster one-tap access to Status
• Higher visibility = more Status engagement

This is a major UX change in WhatsApp’s navigation strategy and could reduce reliance on the Updates tab entirely, If this rolls out, the Updates tab may become more Channel-focused..

Spotted in recent beta builds. Rollout expected gradually.
