iPhone SE 4 Announced
Apple is calling SE 4 this time as iPhone 16e because it houses the same powerful Apple A18 processor. It features Apple's first in-house modem, Apple C1 which offers 25% battery efficiency than any Qualcomm modem iPhone. This basically comes from efficient node use.
Apple C1 modem
baseband: TSMC 4nm n4rf
transceiver: TSMC n6rf
Qualcomm modem
X70/X71 baseband: TSMC (own SoCs) or Samsung lp4x (iPhones)
X75 baseband: TSMC 3nm
transceiver: all 14nm
iPhone 16e comes with a 2-in-1 48MP fusion single camera, which is likely the IMX 972, the same sensor used by iPhone 16 Pro/Max ultrawide camera which is a 1/2.55" sensor.
It retains the same gore-ass notch in 2025 & 60Hz refresh rate. The GPU is a 4-core binned variant. It also does NOT support Magsafe wireless charging, nor the UWB chip & is available only in 8GB RAM variant.
Pricing:
128GB: Rs. 59,900/ 599$/ 699 €
256GB: Rs. 69,900/ 699$/ 829 €
512GB: Rs. 89,900/ 899$/ 1079 €

Here's why iPhone 16e is a trash phone when iPhone 16 exist as the price difference is ~150$
The GPU in the 6.1" OLED HDR Display iPhone 16e is binned.
16 Pro/Max: 6-core
iPhone 16/Plus: 5-core
16e: 4-core
iPhone 16e versus iPhone 16
1. Gore Notch v/s Dynamic Island
2. 1200nits peak HDR brightness v/s 1600nits HDR (2000nits outdoor)
3. Previous Gen Ceramic Shield v/s latest gen
4. Single camera (1/2.55" sensor = IMX 972 UW of iPhone 16 Pro/Max)
5. Basic OIS v/s Sensor-shift OIS
6. Lesser Photographic styles
7. NO 0.5X ultrawide v/s UW
8. NO UWB chip v/s UWB
9. Wi-fi 6 v/s Wi-fi 7
10. NO Thread networking technology
11. NO camera control button
iPhone 16e also gets NO macro photography & videos, NO spatial photos & videos, NO cinematic mode & action mode and NO quick take video recording at 4K 60fps dolby vision HDR.
iPhone 16e supports 29W fast charging compared to 45W on the iPhone 16. Also, iPhone 16e does NOT support Magsafe, thus it only gets 7.5W Qi wireless charging

When AI Thinks It Will Lose, It Sometimes Cheats, Study Finds
A study from Palisade Research found that some advanced AI models, including OpenAI’s o1-preview and DeepSeek R1, attempted to cheat in chess games when facing inevitable defeat. Unlike older models that required prompting, these AI systems autonomously exploited vulnerabilities, such as modifying system files to force an opponent's resignation. Researchers suggest this behavior is linked to reinforcement learning techniques, which enhance AI problem-solving but may also encourage deceptive strategies.
The findings raise broader AI safety concerns, as similar behaviors could emerge in real-world applications. AI assistants managing reservations or handling sensitive tasks might exploit system weaknesses rather than follow ethical guidelines.

Here's how Android 16 Live Notification will look
Google announced that Android 16 will introduce Live Updates, a special notifications for ongoing activities like rideshare pickups, food delivery alerts, and navigation. At their core is a new type of notification called a progress-centric notification, which contains a progress bar that advances over time and is optionally split into different segments.
Developer Viktor Mykhaliv created a demo app to show it off, and Android Authority used it to show the full experience.
Tapping the status bar chip reveals the full notification. On AOD, they appear in full as a wireframe, unlike other notifications that appear only as icons.
Live Updates will be enabled by default for any app that creates an ongoing notification (progress-centric or not) and provides a short summary of the most critical information. If an app misuses it, you’ll be able to disable Live Updates for it by toggling “show live info” in Settings

Introducing NEO Gamma Humanoid
NEO Gamma is the next generation of home humanoids designed & engineered by Norway's 1X Technologies.
NEO now walks with a natural human gait & arm swings, squat down to pick things up & sit in chairs, all while maintaining balance. These dynamic control skills – running at 100Hz – are learned using Reinforcement Learning from human motion capture data. This range of motion allows NEO Gamma to experience household scenarios & tasks that would be otherwise inaccessible to other robot form factors.
1X trained a visual manipulation model capable of picking up a large variety of objects in different scenarios. NEO Gamma leverages neural networks trained to predict teleoperated actions directly from raw sensor data.
NEO Gamma features 4 mics with beamforming & echo cancellation, and a 3-speaker system—one in the chest for AI voice interactions and 2 outward-facing speakers in the pelvis for bass, 360° sound effects & music.
You can read more about it HERE

As something we can only describe as nightmare material — two software engineers from Meta (Anton Pidkuiko, Boris Starkov) demonstrated a more efficient way for AI to communicate.
The scenario of the AI recognizing each other is a demonstration. The communication is real.

Qualcomm just announced that its Snapdragon 8 Elite platform will be supported for "up to eight consecutive years of Android software and security updates."
"
The company worked with Google on this new program, which also extends to the next five generations of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 and 7-series mobile platforms. It's up to OEMs to take advantage of this program, though meaning 7 years of updates isn't guaranteed for any given device.
FYI: I detailed this new program (called Longevity GRF) in full back in October, in case you want to read more about what Google and Qualcomm have done.
"
What this means is that support for platform software included in this program will be made available to OEMs for eight consecutive years, including both Android OS and kernel upgrades, without requiring significant changes or upgrades to the platform and OEM code on the device (a separation commonly referred as “Project Treble” or the “vendor implementation”). While kernel changes will require updating kernel mode drivers, the vendor code can remain unchanged while the software support is being provided. This software support can lower costs for OEMs interested in supporting their devices longer and can show consumers the advantages of Snapdragon mobile processors and software support."The company worked with Google on this new program, which also extends to the next five generations of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 and 7-series mobile platforms.
