iQOO Scams Customers by Shipping Refurbished Smartphones

Some people bought iQOO 9T at a discounted price from iQOO India's official website
But iQOO shipped them refurbished products instead of new ones, thus scamming the customers

People ranted on Twitter after getting scammed and then iQOO agreed for return of the refurbished units

However, returning the refurbished units also comes with T&Cs because iQOO is silently asking users to delete their reviews about "Fraud" done by iQOO and a 1-star rating, and in return, iQOO will provide them with FREE TWS and Rs.1,000 (~12$) discount voucher as well

Basically, iQOO 9T for a discounted price on the iQOO website itself was meant to be for refurbished units but iQOO very cleverly removed it being refurbished from their website

This is NOT the first time iQOO is scamming
Previously, on Amazon, iQOO silently replaced Z7 with the cheaper Z7s model

Unpatchable Vulnerability in Apple MacBooks is Leaking Secret Encryption Keys
Ars Technica

Apple MacBooks have been powered by in-house Apple silicon Arm-based M-series chips since 2020

A newly discovered vulnerability called as GoFetch flaw in Apple’s M1, M2, and M3 chips in MacBooks allows attackers to extract secret security keys from Macs, thus breaking encryption

GoFetch is a “microarchitectural side-channel attack” and affects a part of Apple’s chips called the Data Memory-dependent Prefetcher (DMP), which is used to speed up operations.

The flaw CANNOT be fixed as it relates to the actual hardware design of these chips.

Apple was notified of the flaw in December 2023 & it will need to make hardware changes to future M-series chips to fix the vulnerability.

Intel’s 13th generation Raptor Lake chips also have a DMP but “its activation criteria are more restrictive, making it robust to our attacks.”

Android 15 will bring a Redesigned Volume Panel
Source

Back in 2021, Google released Material You with the Android 12 release
In the upcoming Android 15 release, Google is finally planning to revamp the system volume panel UI.

The new volume panel design features much thicker, pill-shaped sliders.
A 'dot' is placed at the end where the slider’s maximum value is, and the icons are also tappable to quickly mute that stream.

Android 15’s new volume panel is also collapsible.
Tapping the button next to the media volume slider collapses or expands the panel

Apart from the new design, the volume panel will also surface additional controls for things like spatial audio and “noise control.”

The “sound & vibration” header is also gone, and in its place is a persistent media output shortcut.
Google also added some playful animations to the new Android 15 volume panel.

BREAKING: Apple Sued Xiaomi in China

Apple has filed a lawsuit against Xiaomi in China.
The lawsuit, filed in a federal court, accuses Xiaomi of lying to its consumers about the technology it uses in their smartphones

1. FAKE ISP chips:
Xiaomi claims that its flagship smartphones like the Xiaomi 12S Ultra & Xiaomi 14 Ultra use Xiaomi Surge ISP chips

However, Apple has found out that it is NOT any ISP chip and is just a post-processing chip
Xiaomi uses Qualcomm SoC's ISP only but markets it as an ISP to increase its sales & thus lying to its customers

2. NO USB Certification
Apple claims that Xiaomi USB-C chargers and USB-C ports are NOT USB-certified
They are just PD/PPS compatible

Apple also asserts that Xiaomi's custom user interface closely resembles iOS, with SAME iconography, gestures & overall user experience.

Apple has also accused Xiaomi of infringing on patented technologies related to camera enhancements & facial recognition systems

The entire complaint spans 69 pages
