MediaTek Dimensity Rebranded version launched

MediaTek is launching new chips under Dimensity 6000,7000,8000 series which are nothing just rebranding of 2021 chips now being launched again in 2023.

Dimensity 8050 = D1300 = D1200
Dimensity 8020 = D1100
Dimensity 7050 = D1080
Dimensity 7020 = D930 with LPDDR5 RAM & UFS 3.1 storage
Dimensity 6100+ = D700 (2021)
Dimensity 6080 = D810 (2021)
Dimensity 6020 = D700 (2021 launched)

Upcoming Realme 11 Pro will pack Dimensity 7050 is rebranded Dimensity 1080. Now Dimensity 1080 was used in Realme 10 Pro Plus which is also again rebranded Dimensity 920.

So,
Realme 11 pro (2023) = OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite = Realme 10 series = OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite (2022)
Dimensity 1080 is just 10% powerful than Snapdragon 695

Realme 11 series is rebranded series by Oppo powered by rebranded MediaTek chips

World’s First Satellite Call using a normal phone happened

A company called AST SpaceMobile, in partnership with AT&T, just made history by making a satellite call using the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which doesn’t have any special capability like Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip or Snapdragon modems like X70 or X65

The call was made from Texas,US to another phone in Japan.

The signal originating from Texas went from a Galaxy S22 Ultra to a BlueWalker 3 satellite, where it then came back down to Japan to another smartphone. Unspecified AT&T spectrum acted as a middle-man, which is the reason why the phones themselves didn’t need to be modified for this to work.
This means, ANY LTE-capable phone can do this

In short, this proved that you DO NOT need any special Snapdragon component for making satellite calls which Qualcomm and iPhones boasts

In future, every smartphone could send/receive calls, SMS and use mobile data even in remote areas without expensive cellular tower infrastructure

But Pixel 7 would be better than pixel 7a at the end even tho main difference only lies in camera

TRAI likely to Direct Jio and Airtel to Stop Offering Unlimited 5G Data

Vodafone Idea complaint to TRAI that both Jio and Airtel have 30% market share and their 5G tariffs are predatory as they offered below cost services.

After investigation, TRAI (Telecom Authority of India) concluded that its not predatory but offering unlimited data as part of any plan is against the fair usage policy principle of tariff regulations, therefore the two should stop it.

Vodafone Idea is the only telco that has not started 5G services but offers 5G Ready SIM cards, whereas Airtel and Jio offer 5G services on existing 4G packs.

Google starts Rolling Out Passkey to users

Google announced that it is introducing a new, more secure way to log in to Google accounts with the help of PassKeys. They are also sending e-mails regarding the same to everybody

Passkeys allow users to “sign in to apps and sites the same way they unlock their devices: with a fingerprint, a face scan or a screen lock PIN.”
They are considered more secure than passwords and SMS one-time codes because they are more resistant to threats like phishing.

Passwords and two-step verification (2SV) will still work.
