BREAKING: Xiaomi EU ends Fastboot and Recovery ROMs formats

Recovery ROMs can be easily flashed by custom recovery like Ofox/TWRP or mobile. Its file extension is .zip and can also be installed through local updates

Fastboot ROMs can be flashed by only a PC. Suppose the phone is completely dead, and you are unable to open recovery mode in the phone then we use fastboot ROM for flash recovery and its extension is .tgz

Recovery and fastboot ROMs were only offered by Xiaomi for its Mi, Poco and Redmi devices.

Xiaomi.EU has announced that they have introduced a new format called as Hybrid ROMs as those ROMs are both Recovery ROMs and Fastboot ROMs, all in the same package.

Xiaomi didn't tell how does it technically works keeping it as a "secret", but it's a custom-made solution, at least on the recovery side of things, because AOSP never included such an option.

So, All ROMs from now on will be Hybrid ROMs with NO new suffix being added to the ZIP file name, just like typical Recovery ROMs, because those are valid Recovery ROMs for OTA purposes, that just happen to also have what's necessary to flash them with Fastboot.
Flashing with recovery has the advantage due to substantial boost in flashing speed with this method (around 30 seconds on a flagship).

2 ROMs in the new format have already been released:
• V13.0.6.0.SGKMIXM for spes/spesn (Redmi Note 11/ NFC )
• V14.0.6.0.TKICNXM for renoir (Mi 11 Lite 5G)

Google will unveil 20 new AI products including a demo of its own search chatbot

Google is in Code Red 🔴 because rival chatbot ChatGPT has shaken Google out of its routine, with the founders (Larry Page and Sergey Brin) who left 3yrs ago have been called in for help in the A.I fight

Google now intends to unveil more than 20 new products including a demo of its chatbot according to a slide presentation seen by NYTimes.

Some of the new products may include:

• Image Generation Studio: It "creates and edits images"
• AI Test Kitchen: v3 for testing prototypes
• Shopping Try-on: a "YouTube green screen feature to create backgrounds"
• Wallpaper maker for Pixels smartphones
• Maya: It will visualize 3D shoes
• Tool to summarize videos by making a new one
• Image creation technology for developers
• MakerSuite: Help businesses make AI prototypes
Some of these will be announced at Google I/O in May, 2023

In May, Google also expects to announce a tool to make it easier to build apps for Android smartphones:
• Colab + Android Studio: This will generate, complete and fix code
• PaLM-Coder 2: to generate and complete the code

The demo for the chatbot search says Google will prioritize “getting facts right, ensuring safety and getting rid of misinformation,”.
Google earlier said it’s avoided launching certain AI products because of the potential “reputational damage." but now this will mean they are behind the times.

Tecno showcased their Slidable + Foldable Phantom Vision V concept phone

Tecno Phantom Vision V concept folds to nearly regular smartphone size, but if needed can expand to match a mid-size tablet.

Tecno has added a small display on the back, which it calls a reverse-side back cover. It will display notifications, reminders, and an always-on display-styled clock.
The display is made up of 11 functional layers, giving it both flexibility and durability while the casing is made of "aerospace-grade" titanium making it very durable.

• This concept phone can also expand its inner display further by rolling or sliding it out to a full 10.1 inches.
• The phone does not have any hole-punch or cutout on any display.
• The Phantom Vision V, in total, has 3 displays.

TikTok employees can decide which videos go viral

According to several current and former employees of TikTok and its parent company, ByteDance, the social media platform engages in a practice known as "heating" in order to artificially inflate the view count of certain videos.

TikTok uses it to artificially boost the view count of certain videos, benefitting some influencers and brands that the company has sought business relationships with, at the expense of others. It suggests that the videos on the "For You" page may not be there because the algorithm thinks users will like them, but rather because TikTok wants a particular brand or creator to get more views. Sources reveal that employees have been known to heat their personal contacts, spouses or own accounts, leading to the account receiving millions of views.

About 1-2% of daily total video views are coming from heated videos, which gives concerns if the Chinese government can influence ByteDance into pushing certain narratives on their platform.

TikTok has denied these allegations, stating that it promotes some videos to help diversify the content experience and introduce celebrities and emerging creators to the TikTok community, but it only makes up 0.002% of videos in For You feeds.
