Samsung announced new Flex Hybrid display that can Slide & Fold at CES 2023
Source
Samsung Display has developed an OLED display named as Flex hybrid that folds the screen as well as extends the screen in one panel.
When the screen is fully folded, it measures 8 inches, the typical size of a smartphone. However, when it is unfolded, the screen expands to a whopping 10 inches, making it suitable for use as a tablet.
But that's not all - the screen can be further expanded to an impressive 12.4 inches by using a sliding mechanism. It will turn from a smartphone to tablets to even laptops size screen and such devices will be really expensive.

Qualcomm unveiled its Snapdragon Digital Chassis concept
Qualcomm announced the next gen of its automotive SoC the Snapdragon Ride Flex, at CES. The platform is designed for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and automated driving systems (ADS).
The Snapdragon Ride Flex combines the compute power of the original Snapdragon Ride platform, which is already in production in the Cadillac Lyriq, with functionality from the Snapdragon Cockpit and the ability to virtualize and run multiple different operating systems with different levels of criticality.
Combinations of Flex SoCs and next generation AI accelerators can support performance of up to 2,000 trillion operations per second (TOPS), similar to what Nvidia has claimed for its next generation Thor SoC. These new architectures will allow automakers to implement E/E (electrical/electronic) architectures with a centralized compute platform, making it easier to do over-the-air (OTA) software updates and simplifying the wiring in vehicles.
Qualcomm has also pre-integrated its Snapdragon Ride Vision software stack with the Flex SoC. The Snapdragon Ride Flex, is already in the sampling phase and will be in production by 2024 & will be included in future product programs from BMW and Volkswagen.

Qualcomm announced Snapdragon Satellite for Android
Unlike Apple’s Emergency SOS, which only lets users send emergency messages, Snapdragon Satellite is the world's first satellite based communication to achieve two-way messaging communication for Android smartphones in remote, rural, offshore locations, & in case of an emergency.
Iridium's weather-resistant L-band spectrum for both uplink & downlink will be used for satellite connectivity in smartphones. But, a clear view of the sky is required for a connection, meaning the feature will not work indoors. Once connected, it will take a few seconds to send & receive messages.
This service will be available on smartphones equipped with both Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and X70 modem, & will be launched in the second half of 2023, starting with the Samsung Galaxy S23 series as we mentioned in our previous post. Check it out HERE.
It will be available in North America & Europe, and pricing will vary by device manufacturer.
Qualcomm is considering adding voice and video support in the future, but this will require additional satellite power.
