KaOS 2026.02

15 февраля, после трёх месяцев разработки, состоялся выпуск 2026.02 дистрибутива KaOS – независимого, созданного с нуля дистрибутива Linux и ориентированного на использование технологий Wayland, Qt и KDE.
В KaOS используется «плавающее» обновление пакетов (их более 2000) и pacman из проекта Arch Linux для управления пакетами.
До этой версии в качестве среды рабочего стола в KaOS использовалась KDE Plasma.

Разработчики проекта T2 Linux, развивающего пакетный менеджер и платформу для создания дистрибутивов Linux, объявили о восстановлении в X.Org Server поддержки архитектуры 2D-ускорения XAA (XFree86 Acceleration Architecture), разработанной в 1996 году для задействования в X-сервере аппаратного ускорения операций с 2D-графикой. Из X-сервера поддержка XAA была удалена ещё в 2012 году после перевода большинства актуальных DDX-драйверов на ахитектуры EXA, SNA, GLAMOR или UXA.

LLM Claude помогла найти ошибку ввода-вывода в QEMU

Ведущий разработчик проекта io_uring
и утилиты fio для гибкого тестирования подсистем ввода-вывода – Дженс Аксбо (Jens Axboe) – обратился за помощью к нейросети Claude компании Anthropic. Нейросеть помогла Аксбо разобраться со сбоями при работе QEMU – утилиты для запуска виртуальных машин. Аксбо заметил, что она тормозит при работе с дисками AHCI и SCSI. Нейросеть помогла ему найти решение, ускорившее использование io_uring в 50-80-раз.
Предложенный патч для исправления ошибки.

Firefox 148 Released with AI Kill Switch + More

The Firefox 148 update sees its stable release today, bringing with it a much-request ‘AI kill switch’ to easily disable all AI-powered features within the browser. Mozilla has said future updates to the browser will not re-enable AI features once disabled. Given that Mozilla now measures its success by how much revenue it makes from AI features in its products, Firefox included, that’s a reassuring stance.
