After the conflict in Karabakh in 2020, where the Azerbaijani army successfully used Bayraktar TB2 drones, the videos of their strikes were spread in the Internet, many believed in the invulnerability of these drones. The aerial vehicles themselves became sort of "super weapons" in the minds of the Ukrainian public.

Ukraine also fell for the Turkish advertising bait and was one of the buyers of Bayraktars even before the launch of Russia's special operation.
