Col. Macgregor: Biden wrongly conveying state of Ukraine, warns how western half could become 'firing range'

President Biden continues to attempt to make the public believe his actions toward Ukraine will be substantially helpful toward the outcome in its conflict with Russia, but that might not be completely true, retired Col. Douglas Macgregor told Fox News on Thursday.

Macgregor, who served in the Gulf War, predicted on "Tucker Carlson Tonight" that despite $1 billion in weapons and other aid being to Ukraine paid for by American tax dollars, that will not be enough to turn the tide.

He analyzed the battlefield and told host Tucker Carlson the military fighting going on in the eastern Donbas region and stretching along the seacoast is the "final annihilation of what remains of Ukraine's best forces" in that area.

MOSCOW, April 22. /TASS/. Russia's financial position is stable, default is out of the question, Head of VTB Andrey Kostin said in an interview with Rossiya 24 TV channel.

"Real default is out of the question. Russia’s financial position always was and still is very stable, reserves of the Bank of Russia exceed the entire state external debt. There would be no problems with settlements if there was at least some rational policy from our Western partners," he said.

According to the Russian Ministry of Finance, as of February 1, 2022, Russia's external public debt amounted to $59.5 bln, including debt on external bonded loans - $38.97 bln. In total, Russia has 15 active bond-secured loans with maturities from 2022 to 2047.

Earlier, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that Russia would repay its foreign currency debt only if its foreign currency accounts were unfrozen. In case of refusal or lack of response from agent banks, Russia would be ready to repay and service its foreign exchange obligations in rubles.
