Shame about one's actions, whether categorically moral or immoral, is a reflection of external judgments imposed on the individual, rather than a true self-assessment. judgements that come from external objects rather than internal machinations do not represent the self, therefore shame represents a betrayal of the self in favor of the haunting echos of an external object. This is to say it's renewing and redeeming to humanize one's self and accept one's self in total for the full range of their own humanity.
