"Reflecting on your upbringing in a Mormon family where music was integral to your church experience, how has this early influence shaped your current passion for music and your artistic journey today?"

Music has been my ride-or-die forever. Iโ€™m always plugged in, vibing to tunes for hours daily. My first memories are all tied to certain tracksโ€”theyโ€™re like timestamps for different phases of my childhood. With my mom jamming on the church organ and the fam having a seriously diverse taste, music was pretty much in my blood. Mom's Roxy Music sessions were a regular thing, and my brother introduced me to Radiohead when I was 11, which I totally turned into my whole identity (like, super extra). Singing in the church choir gave me mad confidence for performing, and then musical theater took things up a notch. Music has been my go-to therapy, creativity booster, and the deepest personal escape.

My new single, Pivot & Scrape, is officially out now! The video was directed by the amazing Ben Tan, who did such an incredible job bringing this song to life. I couldnโ€™t have done it without the support of so many awesome people who helped out on this track, and Iโ€™m beyond grateful for everyoneโ€™s hard work. Seriously, thank you so much to everyone who played a part in making this happen!

Iโ€™ve poured a lot of myself and my demon into this song, and Iโ€™m really proud of how it turned out. Whether you're into the lyrics, the beat, or just the overall feel of the track, I hope it resonates with you in some way. Itโ€™s been a crazy walk putting this together, and I can't wait to hear what you all think about it.

Iโ€™m super pumped about this new series of Synth History called the Favorite Records Series. I get to be the first one to dive in, and I couldnโ€™t be more stoked. Basically, artists share their top 10-15 favorite albums, and the only rule is at least one has to feature a synth or drum machine somewhere. I picked some good ones that are up on the site now!

Hereโ€™s a little sneak peek:
Peter Ivers - Becoming Peter Ivers: A friend introduced me to his original โ€œIn Heavenโ€ song, and it totally blew me away. I fell down the rabbit hole, watched all his New Wave Theatre stuff, and was just hooked. His music has this really genuine vibe, and it made me feel super nostalgic the first time I heard it.

Flaming Tunes - Flaming Tunes: This oneโ€™s a big influence on my own music. The beats really inspire me. The whole album feels raw and hauntedโ€”like a place Iโ€™m weirdly comfortable in.

Kleenex - Liliput: I was obsessed with this album during the first season of Yellowjackets. I felt like my character, Natalie, would totally love this band, so I even used pics of them for the costume designer. Itโ€™s my go-to when I need to get hyped or just need a mood boost.

Sparklehorse - Vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot: โ€œWeird Sistersโ€ is one of my all-time favorite songs. I grew up on this album, so it has a special spot in my heart. Every track is a gem. Love you, Mark Linkous.

Tall Dwarfs - Fork Songs: โ€œThe Slideโ€ off this album is another favorite. Itโ€™s got that perfect mix of sexy and melancholic. Thereโ€™s just something about 90s indie music from New Zealandโ€”especially Flying Nun Recordsโ€”that hits different.
