#YURI WEEKLY REPORT Missile strike on the ukrainian infrastructure was rather a warning and a test for the Ukrainian air defences that fared quite miserably. Apparently, for now Moscow does not have plans to disable the energetic infrastructure of Ukraine completely, but such plans may well arise later. Also, a number of air defense systems were transferred to the rear, opening a possibility for the aggressive actions of the Russian airforce on the front lines.
Kherson: first serious Ukrainian attack, repelled with significant losses. Svatovo without serious enemy movement, on the contrary, they’ve missed a tactical Russian counter-offensive towards Krasni Liman. Donetsk/Adveyevka - after the Russian attack towards Pervomayskoye, the enemy withdrew to the last, third line of defense on Vodyanoye/Optytnoye. In June, Russian forces had already struck at a similar facility in Nikolaev. At that time, fuel stocks stored in vegetable oil tanks at the Avery terminal were destroyed.

The AFU is conducting a position defense and reinforcing troop grouping.
▪️ 250 mobilized citizens have been transferred to #Kamyshevakha to complete the 9th Separate Special Operations Regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine. 100 of them will be distributed to assault groups on the front line in the coming days.
▪️ Several dozen men are planned to be sent to Malaya Tokmachka to replenish the strength of the 2nd Battalion of the 9th OP NSU. Russian artillery struck one of the battalion´s bases and eliminated more than a dozen soldiers.

The AFU is conducting a position defense and reinforcing troop grouping.
▪️ 250 mobilized citizens have been transferred to #Kamyshevakha to complete the 9th Separate Special Operations Regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine. 100 of them will be distributed to assault groups on the front line in the coming days.
▪️ Several dozen men are planned to be sent to Malaya Tokmachka to replenish the strength of the 2nd Battalion of the 9th OP NSU. Russian artillery struck one of the battalion´s bases and eliminated more than a dozen soldiers.

One of the targets of the fire was the main information and computing centre of Ukrenergo, which is located at 27 Kominterna Street (now Simona Petlyura Street). A house on the opposite side of Zhylianska street was also hit.
We cannot say for sure that the UAV caused significant damage to the equipment and servers, as they could have been located in the basements.
The computer centre stores information about the parameters of the power grid. It also records and analyzes emergency events, which are used as the basis for calculating possible options for eliminating accidents. The centre determines the most optimal parameters of electrical modes, power generation capacity of power plants and network switching schemes. A strike at the centre will not cause a catastrophe, but it will complicate further work.
Immediately after this morning's arrival, Ukrenergo reported rolling blackouts in central and northern regions of Ukraine.

Today, Russian Telegram channels have begun vigorously mocking the frantic firing of Ukrainian soldiers and police at the Geran-2 Kamikaze UAVs used by the Russian Armed Forces to strike #Kiev this morning.
A video published on Patrol Police resources shows that a slow-flying large drone could theoretically be shot down with small arms.
A Geran targeting the #Kiev Passenger Railway Station was successfully shot down on approach.
And it would seem that such tactics against aerial targets justify themselves - here it is, there is confirmation of the downed UAV. But as with any situation, there are a few nuances.
▪️ Gerans still outmanoeuvre Ukrainian air defences - both SAMs, MANPADs and small arms manoeuvre groups. To a certain percentage, they manage to shoot them down. But given the fact that several kamikaze UAVs are assigned to each target according to all rules of engagement planning, the effectiveness of such a fight is debatable.
▪️ No one thinks about the consequences of dashing fire into the air. And the power of physics will certainly not be on the side of Ukrainian citizens who could be hit by such indiscriminate firing.
▪️ What is happening is another confirmation of the proverb "the cunning of the imagination". Such methods of dealing with UAVs are due to the low density of Ukrainian air defenses, which, contrary to local politicians' claims, cannot even fully cover the airspace above the country's capital.

▪️ The 3rd Battalion of the 28th Mechanized Brigade of the AFU has been moved to the #Ukrainka area. Previously, the unit´s personnel had been performing tasks in the #Andreevka frontline section.
▪️ After their arrival, the Ukrainian formations equipped a forward control post and replaced the forces of the 59th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade at the Stepovaya Dolina - Posad-Pokrovskoye line. The forward positions are equipped with ATGMs and man-portable air defence systems (MANPADS).
#Snigirovka Section:
▪️ Six units of military equipment were moved to the vicinity of #Kiselevka to reinforce the 105th Battalion of the AFU´s 63rd Mechanized Brigade.
#Andreevka Sector:
▪️ The Ukrainian command is restoring combat readiness of units. Over the past 24 hours, 36 equipment units were moved to the left bank via the established crossings across the #Ingulets River, while 30 units were moved to #Bereznegovatoye for recovery.

A tragedy in Yeisk, Krasnodar Krai, Russian Federation, where a military plane, Su-34, crashed after a bird flew into the jet engine intake takeoff (according to local media). The pilots managed to catapult out. The plane crashed into the entrance way of a low-rise apartment building.

The Russian Armed Forces continued strikes on critical infrastructure across #Ukraine. During the day, targets were hit in #Lvov, #Chmelnytsky, #Rivne, #Vinnitsa, #Sumy and #Odessa regions, as well as in #Kiev. Electricity and water supplies were again temporarily disrupted due to the damage in several parts of the country.
#RussianFederation Territories:
▪️ Ukrainian militants shelled #Belgorod again. Russian air defence intercepted a target near the city's airport.
#Starobelsk Direction (MAP):
▪️ The AFU command is preparing for another attack on the Russian defense line #Kislovka - #Kotlyarovka from the direction of #Petropavlovka and #Berestovoye.
▪️ In the #Lyman - #Svatovo section, the AFU are transferring additional forces to #Lyman for an offensive on the #Torskoye - #Terny and #Nadiya - #Makeevka lines.
#Soledar Direction:
▪️ There are no significant changes on the frontline. There is fighting in the outskirts of #Bakhmut and #Soledar (+ #Opytnoye).
#Donetsk Direction:
▪️ Ukrainian militants shelled #Donetsk, #Golmovsky, #Kashtanovoye, #Mineralnoye, #Yasinovataya and other settlements in the agglomeration.
#Zaporozhye Direction (MAP):
▪️ Russian artillery struck a stronghold of 9th Separate National Guard Regiment of Ukraine in Malaya Tokmachka.
▪️ The AFU command began refitting the fortifications on the right bank of the #Dnipro River to counter a possible Russian offensive towards #Nikopol.
#Nikolaev - #Berislav Direction on Southern Front (MAP):
▪️ In the Posad-Pokrovskoye section, artillery crews of the AFU's 50th Mechanized Brigade shelled the Ternovye Pody area. The Missile Battery of the 57th Motorized Infantry Brigade shelled strongholds of the Russian Forces on the #Kostromka - #Bruskinskoye - #Ishchanka line.
▪️ In the #Berislav area, the AFU command is replenishing losses of the 60th Infantry Brigade in preparation for another offensive attempt on Russian positions, which is planned in the next few days.

On October 17, 2022, the Russian Forces again conducted massive strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
🔎 Rybar's team analysed data from open sources, reports from eyewitnesses on the ground, as well as information from closed sources. In a number of cases, the effects of the shelling are not so clear and objective monitoring data is lacking.
🔻 List of Confirmed Casualties:
▪️ Severo-Ukrainskaya 750kV substation - 750/330kV power autotransformer and the building of the OPU were affected. Outages at the substation led to blackouts in #Kharkov as well. Light later returned when the emergency circuit was triggered.

▪️ Dneprovskaya 750kV substation - the 750/330kV autotransformer is presumably affected. Serious power outages in #Dnipropetrovsk and #Kharkov.

▪️ Ukrenergo's Main Information and Computing Centre - Despite this morning's strikes, one Heran-2 kamikaze UAV was not enough. We wrote that in case of a qualitative firing it would be possible to disrupt the whole system of selection of optimal parameters of electric modes, power generation capacity of power plants and network switching schemes. But in fact, the control room panel was intact, as was the backup system.

🔻 Probable Targets affected:
▪️ Rovno 330kV substation - the impact caused an emergency power outage in the city centre. Rivne has an important substation and high-voltage line coming from the Rivne NPP.

▪️ Khmelnytsky 330 kV substation - there was an emergency power outage in part of the Xmelnitskaya region after the Geran strikes.

▪️ The Vinnitskaya 750 kV substation is a probable target of a firing. There was a claim that some "critical infrastructure facility" was hit by three missiles. This object could equally have been the Ladyzhynska TPP, which was already hit last week. But since there are no casualties and no evidence from the ground, we are inclined to believe it is the Vinnitskaya power station.

🔻 Based on the information available, we can say with certainty that the targeting of energy infrastructure continues. And this time they are 750kV substations. Yes, the damage is not as widespread as it could be.
The most important result is the deterioration of the entire Ukrainian energy system in the run-up to the cold weather. Yes, the removal of the power system could be forced: missiles and UAVs are now being pinpointed. Extremely many facilities are still intact and unharmed.
But the point-by-point firing continues. And that is the main thing.
