According to a US-Soviet negotiation memo (1977), the Soviet Union was aware of a transition of power timeline to collapse South Africa & Rhodesia. As a communist state, the Soviet Union saw Africa as one block — in globalist terms, not as separate nationalities with self interests — since the majority of the block is black & ideologically favourable, they intended to smash the 'white racists'.
