Fractal Terra high temperatures issue
Hello everyone,
This week, I upgraded my Fractal Terra with the following components:
PSU: Fractal Design Ion+ SF1000
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix B850-I
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L12 Ghost S1 Edition
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 5080 Inspire 3X
RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 6000MHz (64GB, 2x32GB, CL30)
SSD1: Samsung 990 EVO Plus 4TB
SSD2: Samsung 990 EVO Plus 4TB
I upgraded everything except for SSD1, the CPU cooler, and an additional Noctua fan I placed under the PSU.
I work with demanding software that pushes my CPU to 100% usage, causing temperatures to reach 95°C. Since I use this software almost daily, I’m concerned about the long-term effects of these high temperatures.
Initially, I experienced thermal throttling, so I adjusted the PBO Curve Optimizer to -15. While this helped, I’m still worried about the temperatures.
I’d like to know if anyone has recommendations to improve this situation. Specifically, I’m unsure if the Noctua NH-L12 Ghost S1 is sufficient for my CPU. I’ve been considering replacing it with the NH-L12S, as I’ve seen many users with similar builds using it successfully.
