There is no moral difference between them, just as there is no moral difference between the murder of a toddler and a teenager. Our bodies develop and change over time, but our intrinsic worth never changes.

If anything, our moral outrage should increase the further back in time we go — not because less-developed humans are more valuable, but because they’re more vulnerable. An infant or pre-born child is maximally defenseless and innocent. This makes their death all the more tragic.
