DeepSeek, the trending AI company, has launched a new set of multimodal models that it claims surpass OpenAI’s DALL-E 3.

Called Janus-Pro, these models range from 1 billion to 7 billion parameters and are available for download on Hugging Face.

More parameters typically mean better performance, making these models a strong contender in AI-generated content.

The scroll, carbonized by Mount Vesuvius’ eruption in AD 79, was thought to be impossible to read without destroying it. Now, AI has detected ink markings invisible to the naked eye.

Early translations suggest philosophical writings, with words like “διατροπή” (confusion/disgust). Researchers hope to uncover titles and lost works from the ancient world. The Vesuvius Challenge is even offering cash prizes to develop AI tools for decoding more of these fragile scrolls.
