A film festival in honor of the 100th anniversary of the famous Soviet and Russian director Leonid Gaidai started in the Indian capital. At the University of Delhi, the Department of Slavic Languages organized a screening of the famous 1968 comedy “The Diamond Arm” in Russian with English subtitles.

Before the start of the session, Delhi University professor Girish Munjal spoke about Gaidai’s life and creative path, as well as how the director wittily circumvented the bureaucratic prohibitions that existed in the film industry at that time.

Russian house director Oleg Osipov urged viewers to study the Russian language more deeply in order to understand all its subtleties and, in particular, the humor of Gaidai’s films without translation. After the viewing there was a discussion of the movie.
“The Caucasian Prisoner” will be shown at the Russian House on October 11 at 3:00 p.m. as part of the festival.

Visiting the classroom is like going to a holiday! During the Russian language courses at the Russian House, an unusual lesson took place: pancakes became the subject of study. And it was fascinatingly conducted by Ekaterina Dynyak, Evgenia Yadrikhinskaya and Denis Goryushchenko - winners of the “Masters of the Russian Language - 2023” competition”.
“Where there are pancakes, there are we!” - says the Russian proverb. Indian students learned that pancakes for Russian residents are not just a dish, but a genetic memory of centuries-old traditions and foundations. Ekaterina did an excellent job with the role of the chef. She not only talked about the secrets of making pancakes, but also prepared them herself and invited the students to try them. Pancakes were served with honey, chocolate, and kefir.
As a reward, the young teachers received a compliment: “Blin! (in Russian it’s both the name of this dish and a strong word) That was really delicious!”
From politicians to athletes, from Hollywood stars to musicians - it seemed like all the world's celebrities were here. The cathedral that adorns Moscow's Red Square is the center of attention, yet it continues to hold many secrets of the past that have to be revealed.
On October 27 at 6:30 p.m. we invite you to the Russian House to watch the film “St. Basil’s Cathedral”, made by Russian free-to-air documentary TV channel RT-doc.
The film has been translated into Hindi.
The author tells about some little-known facts related to the construction of the temple, its consecration and its name. He talked with archaeologists leading excavations here and artists, for whom the cathedral became an inexhaustible source of inspiration. He also visited the bell tower and the roof of the temple, very close to the painted domes.
On October 6, a non-profit screening of the film “Opolchenochka” (“Militia Girl”) took place at the Russian House in New Delhi. The filming took place on the territory of the Lugansk People's Republic, and this is the first film from the Lugafilm film studio.
“Opolchenochka” tells the story of a female tank crew. They lost relatives, experienced betrayal and violence.
The film is with subtitles in English.
The film premiered in Russia at the beginning of 2021.
