On February 6, with the support of Rossotrudnichestvo in India and with the assistance of the Youth Club at the Russian House, a meeting was held between Russian artist Mr Ivan Yazykov and director of the Delhi College of Arts Mr Ashwani Kumar Prithvivasi and students.The meeting participants listened to a lecture and artistic style, a composition based on "phonetic realism" using alphabets and elements of real life as direct metaphors. Mr Yazykov drew attention to the need to inspire young aspiring artists to research in the field of art and expand their thought process. At the end of the lecture, students asked many questions.
It’s a reminder that the exhibition of works by Mr Ivan Yazykov in the Delhi gallery Urban Fringe will be open until February 23.

Russian Ambassador to India Mr Denis Alipov and Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in India Dr Elena Remizova held talks with the leadership of the Bangalore Museum Chitrakala Parishath. The museum is known not only for its excellent collection of contemporary Indian art, but also for its large collection of works by Nicholas Roerich. This year, Russia and India celebrate the 90th anniversary of the signing of the Roerich Pact, the first ever international treaty on the protection of cultural heritage. With the support of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in India, an international scientific and expeditionary project "Afanasy Nikitin - 550" was launched in Delhi. The goal of the project is to collect scientific and historical data on the journey of the Russian merchant. As you know, his path passed through the Caucasus, Persia, India and Crimea. Afanasy Nikitin arrived in India 30 years before Vasco da Gama and became the first European to leave notes on his stay on the peninsula, including a description of the political structure, trade, agriculture, customs and traditions of India at that time. It should be noted that the Russian merchant became the first traveler who then visited Persia, where he lived for about two years. All this makes the notes that have come down to us a unique monument not only of Russian, but also of Indian and Persian culture of the 15th century.
Expedition members - historian, member of the St. Petersburg branch of the Russian Geographical Society Mr Denis Khrustalev and head of the Dialogue for the Development of Humanitarian Cooperation public organization, member of the Krasnoyarsk branch of the Russian Geographical Society Mr Ilya Bannikov, met Dr Elena Remizova, Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in India, and Dr Farid Asr, Advisor to the Iranian Embassy in India. The parties agreed to hold a joint event based on the results of the expedition.
Also, the expedition members met the members of the Youth Club at the Russian House in Delhi - they told many interesting facts about the life and travels of Afanasy Nikitin, as well as about their scientific goals. It is gratifying that the younger generation of Indians knows about the Russian traveler, largely thanks to the classic Soviet-Indian film "Journey beyond Three Seas/Pardesi."
The results of the expedition will be included in the new edition of “Journey...”, which is currently being prepared for publication by the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkin House) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The Days of Russian Language, Literature and Culture continue at the Russian House in New Delhi.
On the second day, Indian schoolchildren took part in a poetry competition, where they recited famous works by Russian poets Alexander Pushkin, Mikhail Lermontov, Sergei Yesenin and others. The young participants recited with great expressiveness and tried to convey the emotions in which poets, through their work, talk about their homeland, love, admiration for the beauty of their native landscapes, and also raise the themes of freedom, struggle and happiness of the people.
The event continued with quizzes and song competitions, costumes, and musical numbers, where the Indian participants surprised everyone with their originality, from the solution to staging complex dance numbers to an extraordinary performance and presentation of bright and colorful traditional Russian national costumes.
At the end of the program, the winners were presented with certificates and memorable gifts from the Russian House.

As part of the cooperation of the Russian House with the National School of Drama and the International Theater Festival of India (Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2025), performances based on the works of Anton Chekhov - "Three Sisters" and "The Seagull" were shown at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in New Delhi.

The performances gathered more than 150 spectators, among whom were both experts in Russian literature and those who were just getting acquainted with Chekhov's work. Live performance, deep dramatic images and the inimitable atmosphere of classical Russian theater resonated with the audience.

Such interaction strengthens interest in Russian culture, literature and theatrical art in Indian society.

Russian Maslenitsa week was celebrated in one of the largest universities in Delhi - Amity Haryana. The staff of the Russian House prepared a festive program for teachers and students. Member of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia Olga Levchenko gave a lecture on Russian culture and a master class on Khokhloma painting. The best works were selected for display in the Russian House during Maslenitsa festivities on March 2. A master class by doll artist Marusya Novokreshchenova on creating traditional Russian rag dolls was held at the Russian House in New Delhi.
