1. International Women's Day. On this day we honour beloved mothers, grandmothers, daughters, granddaughters, sisters, wives, girlfriends.
2. The origins of International Women's Day should be sought in ancient Roman culture, when free women and girls went to seek the blessing of the Goddess Vesta, wearing their best clothes and most expensive jewellery to demonstrate the favour of the gods. And their husbands and fathers gave them gifts in honour of the holiday.
3. The modern history of Women's Day began on March 8, 1857, when workers in New York factories took part in the so-called “March of the Empty Pots” to defend women's rights: equal pay with men and a reduction of the working day from 16 hours to 10 hours.
4. The first time it was celebrated in St. Petersburg on March 2. In 1914, International Women's Day began to be celebrated on March 8, and in 1975 the UN declared the 8-th of March as the Day of the Struggle for Women's Rights.

A recognized Indian dancer, the editor of a leading Delhi newspaper, famous art critics and doctors came to the Russian House for an exhibition of paintings by Lyudmila Chakrabarti, a native Siberian who chose India as her home.
The vernissage was attended by the winner of national and international dance competitions Shovana Narayan, Times Network columnist Srinjoy Chowdhury, the wife of the Russian Ambassador to India Diana Alipova, and other honored guests.
Lyudmila Chakrabarti combines several hobbies that have become professions: English teacher, artist, book illustrator, author of fairy tales and short stories.
“My first love is Russian classical art, but I would not have become the artist I am today without the influence of India and its rich culture. I have developed several styles, and this gives me enough freedom to create my own world, where fantasy and harmony go hand in hand, and humor is a frequent guest.”
