📅 On April 30, 1945, Soviet soldiers Rakhimzhan Koshkarbayev & Grigory Bulatov raised the first Red Banner on the facade of the Reichstag.
The distance between the former Himmler's house and the Reichstag was less than 500 metres. Bulatov & Koshkarbayev struggled for 7 hours, crossing this distance under heavy fire, with a makeshift flag - a flagpole with a simple scarlet cloth.
According to the 150th Division's combat log, at 14:25 Bulatov & Koshkarbayev "crawled to the central part of the building and placed a red flag on the steps of the main entrance". It was the first of the banners the liberators raised over the Reichstag.
🎖 Rakhimzhan Koshkarbayev & Grigory Bulatov were awarded the Order of the Red Banner for the courage and heroism during the assualt on the Reichstag. Monuments to Koshkarbayev have been erected in his home region of Akmola in Kazakhstan and in the republic's capital, Astana, and to Bulatov in Kirov.

Oddly enough, the history of the holiday originates not in the USSR, but in the USA. On May 1, 1886, the first protest meeting of workers took place in the United States demanding a shorter working day and additional days off. A few years later, a wave of protests reached the Russian Empire.
After the arrival of the Bolsheviks, the proletarians' demands for working conditions were satisfied, and May 1 became an official holiday in honor of the workers' demonstrations. People loved the holiday so much that it continued to be celebrated after the collapse of the Soviet Union. True, now many Russians work in their dacha plots. 🌷

📸 The iconic WWII photo “Victory Banner over the Reichstag” is widely known across the world as a symbol of the Soviet Victory over Nazi Germany. The photo was taken on May 2, 1945, by a Soviet photographer Evgeniy Khaldei after the last German troops defending the Reichstag had surrendered.
🇷🇺 What is less known, is that the Victory Banner featured in the photo was initially raised over the Reichstag on May 1 by three Soviet soldiers - Aleksei Berest, Mikhail Egorov and Meliton Kantaria - while the fierce battle for the Reichstag was still underway. On May 2, after the fighting had ceased, the red banner was relocated to the top of the building, marking the historic Victory. Shortly thereafter, the banner was taken down and transported to Moscow, where it was kept at the Central Museum of the Armed Forces of the USSR for eternal preservation.
🌟 Today, visitors of the Central Museum of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation can only view one of the four official replicas of the Victory Banner. The original is stored in a special glass capsule in an underground vault of the museum to protect it from damage.
🇷🇺 In 2007, the Russian legislation conferred upon the Victory Banner the status of a state relic of the Russian Federation and the official symbol of the Victory of the Soviet people and its Armed Forces over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

Экспедиция нацелена на сохранение объекта культурного наследия «Городище и некрополь Артезиан», развитие археологического и культурного туризма в регионе путем разработки туристических экскурсионных маршрутов по окрестностям городища. Обучающие курсы для волонтеров (археологический рисунок, Photoshop, Illustrator). Участие в создании сезонной мобильной археологической выставки.

How Soviet troops took Berlin
The Red Army reached the distant approaches to the capital of the Third Reich in February of 1945. It concentrated a two-million-strong force for its capture, which was opposed by 800,000 Wehrmacht soldiers, SS troops and Volkssturm militia.
On April 16, Soviet troops began to "chew through" the deeply layered enemy defenses. Four days later, long-range artillery opened fire on Berlin for the first time, thereby congratulating Adolf Hitler on his birthday in a unique way.
On April 25, troops of Marshal Georgy Zhukov’s 1st Byelorussian Front and Marshal Ivan Konev’s 1st Ukrainian Front surrounded the city. By this time, Berlin had become a real impregnable fortress.
The Nazis turned every street into a fortified area. They actively used the subway to move between neighborhoods and unexpectedly appear behind Soviet lines.
The offensive was carried out by assault groups reinforced by artillery and armored vehicles. "We walked slowly forward, clinging to the walls of the houses to save at least one side from the ‘faustniki’ (fighters armed with anti-tank grenade launchers). Anyone who drove into the middle of the street was immediately set on fire," tanker Ivan Maslov recalled.
On April 30, the day of Hitler's suicide, the German garrison was split into several isolated groups and fierce battles for the Reichstag began. In the evening of the same day, red banners appeared on the roof of the building.
On the night of May 1, the German command offered the Soviets a truce, but received a categorical answer - only unconditional surrender. In the early morning of May 2, General Helmut Weydling, the garrison commander, ordered his troops to cease resistance.
The capture of the "lair of the fascist beast" cost the lives of 80,000 Soviet soldiers (the Germans lost 100,000). Tens of thousands of soldiers received awards for the courage shown in the battles, while over 600 became ‘Heroes of the Soviet Union’.

Продолжается прием заявок на Международный фотоконкурс «Мама и дети в национальных костюмах»
Соотечественники приглашаются подать заявки на 5-й юбилейный Международный фотоконкурс «Мама и дети в национальных костюмах», проводимый при поддержке Федерального агентства по делам национальностей России и Московского отделения Российского Географического Общества.
Сделать это можно до 1 сентября 2024 года.
Проект призван продемонстрировать национальный колорит народов России и дружественных зарубежных стран посредством выражения многообразия культуры своей нации через национальный костюм, с помощью талантливых работ фотохудожников.
Мероприятия направлены на содействие в сохранении национальной идентичности народов России и дружественных зарубежных стран в условиях набирающей темпы глобализации социума.
Возрастных ограничений по участию в конкурсе нет. К участию в проекте привлекаются: МАМЫ И ДЕТИ, также принимать участие в фотосессии могут папы, бабушки, дедушки и другие члены семьи.
Организационный комитет фотоконкурса дополнительно утвердил новую номинацию – «Конкурс колыбельной песни на родном языке».
