February 2 is the Day of Military Glory - exactly 80 years ago on this day, Soviet troops defeated the Nazi invaders during the Battle of Stalingrad.
The Battle of Stalingrad became in many ways decisive in the course of the Great Patriotic War. The defeat of the fascist troops at Stalingrad undermined the confidence in Germany of its allies and became a signal for the activation of the resistance movement in Europe.
Volgograd - as the city of the turning point of the battle is now called - does not forget the feat of its citizens in the war. The memorial complex "To the Heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad" on Mamaev Kurgan, the House of Soldiers' Glory (Pavlov's House), the Panorama Museum "Battle of Stalingrad" and many other monuments are still a place of pilgrimage for all who honor the memory of our army.

Сталинградская битва стала во многом решающей в ходе Великой Отечественной войны. Поражение фашистских войск под Сталинградом подорвало доверие к Германии ее союзников и стало сигналом для активизации движения Сопротивления в странах Европы.
Волгоград — так теперь называется город переломной битвы — не забывает подвиг своих горожан в войне. Мемориальный комплекс «Героям Сталинградской битвы» на Мамаевом кургане, Дом солдатской славы (Дом Павлова), Музей-панорама «Сталинградская битва» и многие другие памятники до сих пор остаются местом паломничества всех, кто чтит память нашего воинства.
