Lake Kezenoiam, often called the Andi Sea or Blue Lake, is the largest and deepest natural water reservoir in the North Caucasus. It is located on the border of the Chechen Republic and Dagestan.
The reservoir was the result of a large landslide that came down about 600-700 years ago from the southern slope of the Kashkerlam ridge and blocked the floodplains of the Kharsum and Kaukha rivers. The maximum depth of the lake is 74 meters and the area reaches 2.3 square kilometers.
The color of the lake changes from sky-blue to dark turquoise depending on the weather conditions. The water here is so clear that you can see fish swimming in algae in the depths. The reservoir is home to the Eisenham trout, which until 1963 existed only in Kezenoiam. It is now listed in the Red Book as a declining species.
According to legend, there used to be an aul on the site of the lake. One day an angel dressed as a beggar went to ask the villagers for a place to sleep, but no one would let him in. Only a poor widow showed compassion for a man in need. The next morning, he told the woman to urgently leave the village to escape her misfortune. When the woman left, there was an earthquake in the mountains and a heavy rain fell from the sky. The village was flooded, and Lake Kezenoiam appeared in its place.

По легенде, на месте озера раньше существовал аул. Однажды ангел, переодетый в нищего, пошел просить жителей аула дать ему переночевать, но его никто не пустил в дом. Только бедная вдова проявила сострадание к человеку в беде. На следующее утро он сказал женщине срочно покинуть селение, чтобы спастись от несчастья. Когда женщина ушла, в горах началось землетрясение, а с неба полил сильнейший дождь. Аул затопило, и на его месте появилось озеро Кезенойам.

Geographical Dictation premieres in Kolkata
Today, Russian House in Kolkata joined the international educational campaign "Geographical Dictation" and held it on site for the first time.
Sergey Shushin, head of the Russian House in Kolkata, delivered the welcome address and conveyed his best wishes to the participants of the Geographical Dictation.
For the first time, the Geographical Dictation was held in 2015 at the initiative of Vladimir Putin, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Geographical Society.
Love for geography unites people of different professions and ages. Traditionally, cosmonauts working on the International Space Station and employees of the Antarctic Station take part in the event too. Their video address was demonstrated on the site.
In person and remotely at all sites in all countries, the campaign will begin on October 30 at 12:00 local time. From 14:00 on October 30 to 14:00 on November 10, Moscow time, it will be possible to write an online version of the dictation on the website https://dictant.rgo.ru/

Humanitarian aid for Russian regions
🔹On October 28, the Penza region delivered more than 26 tons of humanitarian aid to the Pologovsky region in Zaporozhye. It included food, hygiene items, antiseptics, power generators, chainsaws, rotary hammers and much more
🔹Specialists from the Moscow region are restoring multistory buildings in the city of Krasny Luch in the LPR. Nearly 80 houses are planned for renovation. Builders have already begun to deliver the necessary materials and repair the roof. They will install windows, access doors, replace ventilation ducts, as well as storm drains.
🔹A group of specialists from Kamchatka is working in the city of Svetlodarsk and the village of Mironovsky in the DPR. They are engaged in assessing the state of infrastructure and preparing for the heating season.

🔹28 октября Пензенская область доставила более 26 тонн гуманитарной помощи в подшефный Пологовский район Запорожской области. В ее составе: продукты питания, предметы гигиены, антисептики, электрогенераторы, бензопилы, перфораторы и многое другое.
🔹Специалисты из Подмосковья восстанавливают многоэтажные дома в городе Красный Луч в ЛНР. Запланирован ремонт почти 80 домов. Строители уже начали завозить необходимые материалы и чинить кровлю. Они установят окна, подъездные двери, заменят вентиляционные каналы, а также ливневые стоки.
🔹В городе Светлодарске и поселке Мироновском в ДНР работает группа специалистов из Камчатки. Они занимаются оценкой состояния инфраструктуры и подготовкой к отопительному сезону.

Participants can try their hand at intellectual competitions in 14 subject profiles while in their own country, and winners and prize-winners can get free education at the best Russian universities.
Foreign citizens who have higher education or complete their studies at the appropriate level in 2023 can participate in the Olympiad.
