On 12 May 2022, Russian House in Kolkata hosted a special session of the Progress Literary club within the framework of the newly inaugurated art exhibition "Victory over fascism". The session was dedicated to the 77th anniversary of the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and to the 161st birth anniversary of a Bengali polymath Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941).
The session has been presided by a prominent Bengali novelist and film maker Shahzad Firdaus. Members of the literary club spoke on the contribution of Tagore's philosophy and creative works towards building of a safer environment. The speakers have noted the pacifist and anti-nationalist views of Tagore.

Members of the associations visited the exhibition "Victory over fascism" at the Russian House in Kolkata and shared their views on the topic "Tagore, struggle against fascism and progressive people's literary and cultural movement".
A minute of silence was observed in commemoration of victims of the fascism during the World War II.

Millions of people in Russia and other countries will have the opportunity to show their respect for those who fought for the Fatherland, to feel pride in the Great Victory with special force.
You can get a ribbon in Russian houses around the world.
For example:
🔹 In Cyprus, India (New Delhi) and Uzbekistan, distribution will begin on April 27 as part of the Victory Dictation campaign.
🔹 In Hungary - at the Russian House in Budapest from April 25 to May 5.
🔹 In Argentina, you can get a ribbon at the Russian House in Buenos Aires, for example, on May 4 at a private screening of the film "Nuremberg" or on May 6 at the procession of the "Immortal Regiment".
🔹 In Israel, the distribution of ribbons is planned on May 5 at a memorial rally in the forest of the Red Army near Jerusalem or at a motor rally from the north of Israel to the south.
Distribution of St.George ribbons at the Russian House in Kolkata will be held on May 8th and 9th.
The campaign has been running since 2005. Its slogan is "I remember! I'm proud!"

Exhibition "Path to the Victory" opened in the Russian House in Kolkata
On 4 May, an exhibition of Soviet military posters and photographs "Path to the Victory" opened in Kolkata in celebration of the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). Alexey Idamkin, Consul General of Russia in Kolkata, inaugurated the exhibition.
Sergey Shushin, vice-consul and director of the Russian House in Kolkata, and Anjan Bera, General secretary of the All-India Peace and Solidarity organization, West Bengal branch, addressed the audience at the inauguration. They have noted how the war changed the course of history and appreciated the courage of the nations which rose up to reinstall peace: only Soviet Union lost 27 million of troops and civilians.
International memorial campaign "St.George's ribbon" was launched at the event. Visitors of the exhibition - Indian citizens and Russian compatriots - received the ribbons as symbols of military glory and remembrance of those who fell in the World War II. A documentary about the 1945 Moscow Victory parade was screened.
The exhibition will remain open on May 5th, 8th and 10th. Screenings of "Panfilov's 28 Men", "T-34" and "Battle of Sevastopol" will be held on those days at 5.30 p.m.

Они отметили, как война изменила ход истории и оценили мужество народов, поднявшихся на восстановление мира: только потери Советского Союза составили 27 миллионов военнослужащих и мирных жителей.
На мероприятии был дан старт международной мемориальной акции «Георгиевская ленточка». Посетители выставки - индийцы и российские соотечественники - получили ленты как символы воинской славы и памяти о павших во Второй мировой войне. Был показан документальный фильм о московском параде Победы 1945 года.
Выставка будет открыта 5, 8 и 10 мая. В эти дни в 17.30 ч. будут показаны фильмы «28 панфиловцев», «Т-34» и «Битва за Севастополь».
