Baron Wrangel: The last serious enemy of the Bolsheviks
In 1920, commander of the Russian army Pyotr Wrangel remained the only leader of the White counter revolutionary movement who was still feared by the Soviet government. The rest had either died or given up the fight and left the country.
By the beginning of the Civil War, the baron was already an experienced military man. He had fought in the Russo-Japanese War and World War I, had risen to the rank of major general and had received a number of awards.
Wrangel quickly gained fame as one of the most capable military leaders of the White movement. He successfully defeated the Bolsheviks in Kuban and the North Caucasus and even took Tsaritsyn (Stalingrad, now Volgograd), which the Whites had unsuccessfully stormed three times before him.
At the end of 1919, the White armies of southern Russia were defeated during their offensive on Moscow. In April of the following year, Wrangel took charge of what was left of them and consolidated his position in Crimea.
There, he reorganized the Russian army and carried out land reform in order to attract the peasantry to his side. However, to no avail.
In November, the Red Army broke onto the peninsula and 146,000 White Guard soldiers and civilians had to evacuate from Crimea, along with the baron. There were no more opponents of his scale left in Soviet Russia.
“Our further paths are full of uncertainty… May the Lord grant us all the strength and wisdom to overcome and survive the Russian hard times,” Wrangel addressed his troops at the time.
In exile, the baron intended to continue the struggle and founded the Russian All-Military Union, which united up to one 100,000 former White Guard soldiers and officers. But, in 1928, Wrangel suddenly died of tuberculosis.
There is a theory that the Soviet secret services had a hand in his death.

This is a modern space with picturesque views of the Zhigulyov sea and mountains. The embankment has bicycle paths, scooter zones, sports grounds, children's complexes and recreation areas with comfortable sun loungers.
✈️ Park complex of the technology history named after K.G. Sakharov
Not far from the plant there is a whole park, in which the items of achievements of the Soviet industry of the XX century are presented. Here you can see both submarines and all-terrain vehicles. For example, the submarine B-307 was delivered to the park directly from the workplace.
🛖 Bogatyrskaya Sloboda Theme Park
This is an architectural complex with towers, terems, wooden huts and other samples of Old Russian architecture. Here you can see samples of ancient Russian weapons, clothes and household utensils. The park is located on the bank of the Volga River, so picturesque views are guaranteed!

🇷🇺 The Russian Presidential Library announces a qualifying round of Olympiad in the subject "Russian as a Foreign Language"
The Olympiad "Russia in the Electronic World" for foreign schoolchildren and students in Russian as a foreign language is held remotely. Its first qualifying round started today.
Registration and assignments will be available on the Olympiad website until February 3, 2025.
Schoolchildren over 14 years old and students who are foreign citizens can take part in the Olympiad.
