There are lots of unusual things in the Moscow metro, but it is not always possible to notice all the details due to the constant rush and city rhythm.
You can see the historical motifs of the ancient world at the #Kropotkinskaya metro station. The lobby features columns inspired by the art of ancient Egypt, with lotus-like piers with hidden lamps. Due to that it seems the ceiling becomes weightless and soars above the passengers.
The most unusual place that can be imagined in the metro is hidden on #Arbatskaya station – there is a buffet on the platform. The place is called «Buffet No.11». Since 1968, a tiny cafe has been providing hot meals to subway drivers and passengers. It was renovated in 2016 and decorated in a retro style, while keeping homemade dinners of the menu. Unfortunately the buffet is closed at the moment, but you can still see a sign that is unusual for Moscow metro.
The Vorobyovy Gory metro station is located above the Moskva River. There are glass showcases in its lobby, where exhibits have been hosted since 2010. The passengers could see sculptures from the Darwin Museum, costumes from the Moscow State Circus, as well as models of space rockets from Roscosmos. Furthermore, there is an exhibition dedicated to the Moscow Metro at the moment, it presents uniform samples of Moscow metro workers of different years.
