International Olympiad of Russia's HSE University 🎓🇷🇺

Competition participants will have the opportunity to apply for scholarships and grants, which will allow them to obtain tuition fee grants. HSE INTO 2023 outcomes will be valid for admission at HSE University for the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 academic years. Competition winners who apply to HSE University in 2023 will be entitled to a full Russian Government scholarship (within a quota) to study in one of the University's Bachelor’s programmes, if they comply with the application requirements.

Foreign (non-Russian) citizens and stateless persons are invited to take part in the competition, including high school students in the 10th or 11th grades (or in the 11th or 12th grades for those pursuing a 12-year school programme). Foreign citizens residing and studying at high schools in Russia are also invited to take part in the competition. Participation in HSE INTO 2023 is free of charge.

All prospective participants in the HSE International Olympiad – 2023 must register online https://asav.hse.ru/intolymp.html?lang=en#signup from September 1 to September 30, 2022.

Competitions will be held from October 20 to October 30, 2022. The results are to be announced before December 24, 2022 on the HSE GSC website.

HSE INTO – 2023 participants may choose between on-campus (offline) and off-campus (online) modes of participation. List of offline venues will be published in September 2022, on the website.

HSE INTO covers the following subject fields: Design, Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communications (also available in French), Mathematics, IT, International Relations, Social Sciences (Person. Society. State).

🎓🇷🇺 Международная Олимпиада Молодежи – крупнейший международный проект НИУ ВШЭ

Участники Олимпиады получат возможность претендовать на стипендии и гранты, позволяющие снизить стоимость обучения. Результаты Олимпиады действительны в течение 2 лет: победители и призеры Олимпиады, поступающие в бакалавриат НИУ ВШЭ в 2023 и 2024 году, смогут претендовать на полную государственную стипендию Правительства РФ (квоту) на обучение по образовательным программам бакалавриата/специалитета ВШЭ при соблюдении условий подачи заявки.

К участию приглашаются иностранные граждане и лица без гражданства – учащиеся 10-11 классов (11-12 классов с 12-летней программой обучения) школ, гимназий, лицеев и колледжей. Участие в Олимпиаде бесплатное.

Подача заявок продлится до 30 сентября 2022 года. Олимпиадные состязания пройдут с 20 по 30 октября 2022 года. Результаты будут опубликованы на сайте Олимпиады до 24 декабря 2021 года.

Олимпиада проводится в очном (офлайн) и дистанционном (онлайн) форматах. Перечень площадок для проведения очных состязаний будет размещен на сайте в сентябре 2022 года.

Олимпиада проводится по 16 предметным направлениям на русском языке: Биология, Востоковедение, Дизайн, Журналистика, Иностранные языки и межкультурная коммуникация, Информационные технологии, История, Математика, Медиакоммуникации, Международные отношения, Мировая литература, Право, Психология, Реклама и связи с общественностью, Социальные науки, Философия и логика.

Для участия в Международной олимпиаде молодежи-2023 необходимо пройти онлайн-регистрацию https://asav.hse.ru/intolymp.html?lang=ru#signup в период с 01 по 30 сентября 2022 года. Для подачи заявки, кроме заполнения регистрационной формы, необходимо подготовить мотивационное письмо.

После заполнения регистрационной формы и ее проверки модератором участник получит на почту, указанную при регистрации, логин и пароль для доступа в личный кабинет.

Conference of Russian Compatriots of Asian Countries, held in Bangkok (Thailand), adopted a resolution of 26 points, in which - both about the Russian school abroad, and about the rights of Russian speakers, digitalization, the Russian language, and the fight against the glorification of Nazism.

Asian compatriots noted that in the context of the pandemic they continued active public work and recognized the need to return to face-to-face activities as soon as possible.

The heads of state authorities of the Russian Federation, constituent entities of the Russian Federation, the Federal Assembly, and other Russian officials were called upon to meet more often with active compatriot organizations as part of their trips abroad. They noted the positive contribution of the Russian Orthodox Church and other traditional confessions of Russia to strengthening the spiritual unity of compatriots, their humanitarian ties with their historical homeland.

Russian Ambassador to Thailand Yevgeny Tomikhin, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on International Affairs Bair Zhamsuev and Deputy Director of the Department for Work with Compatriots Abroad of the Russian Foreign Ministry Vladimir Titorenko spoke at the conference.

The conference was attended by delegates from India, Cambodia, China, the Republic of Korea, Mongolia, Nepal, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Japan. Compatriots from Bangladesh and Malaysia attended as observers.
The next, 16th, regional conference of Russian compatriots in Asia will be held in 2023 in Nepal.

Конференция российских соотечественников стран Азии, прошедшая в Бангкоке (Таиланд), приняла резолюцию из 26 пунктов, в которой – и про русскую школу за рубежом, и про права русскоязычных, цифровизацию, русский язык, борьбу с героизацией нацизма.

Соотчественники Азии отметили, что в условиях пандемии они продолжали активную общественную работу, и признали необходимость скорейшего возвращения к очным формам деятельности.

Руководителей органов государственной власти Российской Федерации, субъектов Российской Федерации, Федерального Собрания, других российских официальных лиц призвали в рамках их зарубежных поездок чаще встречаться с активом организаций соотечественников. Отметили позитивный вклад Русской Православной Церкви и других традиционных конфессий России в укрепление духовного единства соотечественников, их гуманитарных связей с исторической Родиной.
На конференции выступили посол России в Таиланде Евгений Томихин, заместитель председателя Комитета Совета Федерации Федерального Собрания РФ по международным делам Баир Жамсуев и заместитель директора Департамента по работе с соотечественниками за рубежом МИД России Владимир Титоренко.
В конференции приняли участие делегаты из Индии, Камбоджи, Китая, Республики Корея, Монголии, Непала, Сингапура, Таиланда, Малайзии и Японии.

Соотечественники из Бангладеш и Малайзии присутствовали в качестве наблюдателей.

Следующая, 16-я, региональная конференция российских соотечественников Азии пройдет в 2023 году в Непале.

Did you know that the New Year was not always celebrated on January 1st? In the history of Russia there are as many as three dates on which the beginning of the year was celebrated.

After the baptism of Russia in 988, the beginning of the year was celebrated on March 1: the season of sowing and harvesting begins, nature is reborn after the winter cold - and people celebrated it.

In 1492, Tsar Ivan III signed a decree that officially the New Year would be September 1. On this day, the sovereign received not only the boyars, but also the peasants: he listened to their problems and promised to solve them.

However, even after the decree, the New Year until 1700 was celebrated twice a year: in spring and autumn. In part, such dates remained due to the religiosity of the population: New Year, a Christian holiday, was also celebrated on September 1.

Peter I decided to finally reform the traditional celebration and moved it to the winter. Since then, the traditions familiar to us have also been formed: a Christmas tree, gifts under it and round dances around it.

После крещения Руси в 988 году начало года отмечалось 1 марта: начинается сезон посевов и сборов, природа возрождается после зимних холодов — и люди отмечали это.

В 1492 году царь Иван III подписал указ о том, что официально Новый год будет 1 сентября. Государь в этот день принимал не только бояр, но и крестьян: он выслушивал их проблемы и обещал решить.

St. Petersburg won the award for "Best Upcoming Destination" at the OTM International Tourism Exhibition in Mumbai. The Russian city on the Neva river has been recognized as the most popular tourist destination.

More than 35,000 exhibitors were able to see the combined Russian exhibition, which included St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kaliningrad and Novgorod regions.

St. Petersburg and Moscow presented a joint project "Two cities - one million impressions". Interregional routes of the "Silver Necklace of Russia" were also presented, uniting 11 regions of northwestern Russia.

Peoples of Russia: Koreans

The largest groups of Russian Koreans in Russia live in the Far East, in the Rostov region and North Caucasus, as well as in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Koreans settled on the territory of Primorsky Krai long before the appearance of the first Russian settlers. However, the real migration of Koreans to Primorsky Krai began in the second half of the 19th century. The resettlement was driven by lack of land, famine and natural disasters in Korea.

The traditional cuisine of Koryo-saram is based on the cuisine of the northern regions of Korea. Koreans prefer fish and pork. Almost no animal fat is used. They love hot peppers, garlic and coriander. In their own way, they prepare some dishes of Russian cuisine. In borscht, for example, boiled pabi rice is added. However, today there are dishes that have no analogues in the cuisine of North and South Korea. For example, carrot-cha. "Korean-style carrots" is a dish popular among the Koryo-saram. The salad appeared during Soviet times as a replacement for kimchi, a traditional Chinese cabbage dish with red pepper.

In traditional Korean cuisine, it is customary to marinate fresh meat or fish with radishes or radishes and vinegar, with the addition of hot spices. But since carrots were more accessible than radishes in the USSR, they gradually replaced the usual vegetable. The main components of this salad are carrots, sugar, salt, vinegar, vegetable oil and red hot pepper. Moreover, Koreans use coarse pepper.

Традиционная кухня корё-сарам основывается на кухне северных регионов Кореи. Корейцы предпочитают рыбу и свинину. Почти не используют животный жир. Любят острый перец, чеснок и кориандр. На свой манер они готовят некоторые блюда российской кухни. В борщ, например, добавляют варёный рис паби. Однако сегодня есть блюда, не имеющие аналогов в кухне Северной и Южной Кореи. Например, морков-ча. «Морковь по-корейски» — блюдо популярное в среде «корё-сарам». Салат появился во времена СССР как замена кимчхи – традиционного блюда из пекинской капусты с красным перцем.

В традиционной корейской кухне принято мариновать свежее мясо или рыбу с помощью редиса или редьки и уксуса, с добавлением острых специй. Но так как в СССР морковь была доступнее чем редис, то постепенно она и вытеснила привычный овощ. Основные составляющие этого салата – морковь, сахар, соль, уксус, растительное масло и красный жгучий перец. Причем корейцы используют перец крупного помола.
