Exhibition celebrating Russia-India relations opens in Kolkata
A five-day exhibition in celebration of 75 years of India's Independence and 51 years of Russian-Indian Treaty of Peace, Friendship and Cooperation starts in Kolkata.
On 22 August 2022, Russian House in Kolkata held an inauguration ceremony of the exhibition "Mutual Friendship To Strategic Partnership", consisting of contemporary artworks, archival photographs, books, historical postage stamps and banknotes. Artists and guests gathered for the traditional lamp ignition.
Establishment of the diplomatic relations between our countries dates back to April, 1947, a few months before the official recognition of India as a sovereign republic. In August, 1971 the Treaty of Peace, Friendship and Cooperation was signed between India and the Soviet Union that specified a new milestone - a mutual strategic cooperation. Diplomatic relationships between our countries continue to straighten, being the foundation of collaborations in many spheres.
The exhibition is open to visitors until 26 August 2022, 4 to 7 p.m.

On August 22, the International Youth Camp "Dialogue" opened in the Kaluga Region, Russia. Activists from 23 countries will learn more about the methods of intercultural communication, the role of international cooperation in the field of human rights protection, prevention of xenophobia, nationalism and extremism. Also, the participants will share their experience in implementing similar projects with each other.
According to the chairman of the National Council of Youth and Children's Associations of Russia Grigory Petushkov, every time it's nice to hear the feedback from the matured participants in the camp. Many say that "Dialogue" actually changed their lives, taught them to listen and accept a different point of view.
Ekaterina Torubarova, Head of the Public Diplomacy Department of Rossotrudnichestvo, said that every day Russian Houses around the world are working to maintain communication between people. She also stressed that there are similar initiatives at the municipal level. The activities of the international departments of universities have intensified. “And the main goal of such work is to make friends with everyone. Young people in this area have limitless opportunities,” Ekaterina Torubarova is sure.

Активисты из 23 стран узнают больше о методах межкультурного общения, роли международного сотрудничества в области защиты прав человека, профилактике ксенофобии, национализма и экстремизма. Также молодые ребята поделятся друг с другом опытом реализации подобных проектов.
По словам председателя Национального Совета молодёжных и детских объединений России Григория Петушкова, каждый раз приятно слышать отзывы повзрослевших участников лагеря. Многие говорят, что «Диалог» фактически изменил их жизнь, научил выслушивать и принимать другую точку зрения.
Начальник Управления общественной дипломатии Россотрудничества Екатерина Торубарова рассказала, что ежедневно Русские дома по всему миру работают над поддержанием общения между людьми. Она также подчеркнула, что подобные инициативы есть и на муниципальном уровне. Активизировалась деятельность международных отделов вузов. «И главная цель такой работы – всех подружить. У молодёжи в этой сфере есть безграничные возможности», – уверена Екатерина Торубарова.

Did you know that you can find the shades of China, Egypt, Maghreb and Tibet in St. Petersburg?
The fascination with Orientalism in St. Petersburg, introduced to Russia at the beginning of the 18th century via Europe, was truly embodied on a large Russian scale.
For the inhabitants of the most European Russian city, the East has always been shrouded in mystery and romanticism: after all, not many had an opportunity to travel there.
Interesting to know:
✅There are almost 30 sphinx statues in St. Petersburg. The oldest and the most famous of them reside at the Universitetskaya Embankment, in front of the Imperial Academy of Arts. Those are original Egyptian sculptures, made from pink granite in the 14th century BC to decorate the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III. They were brought to the Russian capital in 1832 and installed in 1834.
✅The world’s northernmost Buddhist temple appeared in St. Petersburg thanks to the 13th Dalai Lama’s Russian representative, a Buryat lama named Agvan Dorzhiev. In 1908, after the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Russia and Tibet, he persuaded the imperial authorities to issue a permit to erect a Buddhist religious building in the capital.

On August 22, Russian region Ugra handed over 20 tons of humanitarian cargo for residents of #Donbass: flour, cereals, tea, drinking water, vegetable oil.
Earlier, on August 21, #Astrakhan had sent 13 tons of humanitarian aid to the #LPR. The cargo included: food, medicines, syringes, bandages, medical masks, baby food, school supplies, bicycles, office equipment.

August 22 is the Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation.
Russian compatriots from different countries, visiting our country on the "Hello, Russia" program, took part in the action "Symbol of Valor and National Pride". They helped the citizens of Pskov unfurl the longest Russian flag in the city, and thus set a record.

The second day of the program "Hello, Russia!" for young compatriots took place in the vicinity of the city of Pskov: the guys visited the village of Izborsk and the city of Pechory.
They visited the Pskov-Caves Monastery, where they walked through the dark tunnels that have preserved history to this day, and visited the temple.
Then we moved to the Izborsk fortress, built in the 14th century. Together with the guide, the compatriots saw the main towers of the fortress and walked through the forest to the Slovenian springs.

Второй день программы «Здравствуй, Россия!» для юных соотечественников прошёл в окрестностях города Псков: ребята побывали в селе Изборск и городе Печоры.
Они посетили Псковско-Печерский монастырь, где прошлись по тёмным туннелям, сохранившим историю до наших дней, и побывали в храме.
Затем переместились в Изборскую крепость, построенную в 14 веке. Вместе с экскурсоводом соотечественники увидели основные башни крепости и прогулялись по лесу до Словенских ключей.
